Adventures in Archiving

Monday, November 2, 2009. I have finally finished capturing all of my footage from my archive of tapes to my archive of footage on my hard drive. I have the footage divided into folders on my hard drive:. Monday, October 19, 2009. I haven't done much with the archive yet because i've been working a lot on my group's presentation tomorrow. When I chose my topic I had no idea how intense the workload was going to be. Turns out I know my life too well, and that's why it's difficult. It sure has made me more...

Adventures in Archiving: September 2009

http://www.adventuresinarchiving.blogspot.com/2009_09_01_archive.html

Tuesday, September 22, 2009. So i got all productive tonight, went to the gym AND started thinking about how i'm going to put together this archive and what the final result should/could look like. I'm not sure what my biggest obstacle is going to be for this project. My general ignorance of archives? My past archives have consisted of filing cabinet's, filing folders, sandwich bags, cardboard boxes, tupperware, etc. It all starts to get a little ridiculous in my mind. I had 50 or so floppy disks in a me...

Adventures in Archiving: October 2009

http://www.adventuresinarchiving.blogspot.com/2009_10_01_archive.html

Monday, October 19, 2009. I haven't done much with the archive yet because i've been working a lot on my group's presentation tomorrow. When I chose my topic I had no idea how intense the workload was going to be. I thought talking about my personal archive/collection of the narrative of my life would be quick and easy. I mean I know my life so well. But it ended up making me think a lot about my archive and how I've compiled it over the years. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). View my complete profile.

Defending Champions: January 2010

http://defendingchampions.blogspot.com/2010_01_01_archive.html

Wednesday, January 27, 2010. Try not to point out that something’s not really a sport if a pseudo-athlete waits in what’s called a kiss-and-cry area, while some panel of subjective judges decides who won . So if only to hasten the arrival of the day they’re done, when we can move on to March Madness — for God’s sake, let the games begin.". I know I will tune in to see Davis, and I will also be watching the Canadian squads, and other athletes from other countries, from various ethnicities. Defending Champ...

Defending Champions: July 2010

http://defendingchampions.blogspot.com/2010_07_01_archive.html

Wednesday, July 14, 2010. Today, the New York Times published a video piece. About Iraq's Modern Art Museum. Since the war began, the museum's been left to rot, along with all the 20th century Iraqi artworks it houses. If it doesn't get any financial aid, much of the country's 20th century artistic and cultural heritage will be lost. Tuesday, July 6, 2010. Semenya Normal After All; Shame on the IAAF. Defending Champions: February 2010

http://defendingchampions.blogspot.com/2010_02_01_archive.html

Wednesday, February 17, 2010. The 2010 Winter Games in Vancouver are in danger of gaining the infamous distinction of Worst Games Ever. I have to say, I'm not surprised. Not after the disastrous start this Olympics got off to with the death of luge athlete Nodar Kumaritashvils; a crash the Wall Street Journal. Tim Gayda, the vice president of sport for the Vancouver organizing committee, told the Vancouver Sun in October 2002 that the decision would make the track financially viable after the Games.

Defending Champions: Lopsided federal subsidy to Quebec a common refrain

http://defendingchampions.blogspot.com/2010/09/lopsided-federal-subsidy-to-quebec.html

Wednesday, September 8, 2010. Lopsided federal subsidy to Quebec a common refrain. Having lived in Montreal for three years after completing an undergraduate degree in '02, I got a sense of the contempt some (NOT ALL) Quebecois have for Canadians by gauging various opinions on the federal subsidy of cultural endeavors in the distinct. Saturday, October 9, 2010. On the 'Playground' at Toronto's Nuit Blanche. Photos by Paul Eekhoff - http:/ www.pauleekhoffpicturelab.com/. It's been exactly one week since Toronto pulled an all-nighter. I had the pleasure this year of assisting my partner Sabrina Richard and her friend Sara Atrvash on their public sculpture Playground. Is reminiscent of construction scaffolding slung around homes and skyscrapers - only its gold. Its precious sheen and scaffold-like structure function poetically as a m...

Wednesday, May 5, 2010. Grant Hill (left) and Steve Nash (right) in their new jerseys. It was designed by politicians to help curb the stream of illegal Latino immigrants into the state. University applicants have also been boycotting Arizona Colleges in protest of the prejudicial law. Good for Sarver and LOS SUNS, I hope they keep these uniforms on and stick it to Brewer and the state with a lengthy playoff run. Tuesday, May 4, 2010. Philly Fan Tasered at Ball Game. Is there anything Roland Barthes hasn't commented on? Imagine that, The Babe, a mere mortal. Friday, August 6, 2010. That's more like it. View my complete profile. Sunday, January 8, 2017. How we stay busy. Amy needed something to do in anticipation of summer vacation and the rain storm that is coming. We went to Parana (we visited when we transported Juancho and his family for a cancer treatment) and purchased some material and thread to make a quilt to cover a very disgusting- looking sofa which had its origin a century ago. The technique she used was a pattern found on Pinterest using the Brother sewing machine owned by The Ranch. This ...
