As the days get warmer and longer, I find myself thinking about childhood and the periscope I once campaigned so diligently for my father to build me. You know, one of those polelike things that lets you look into the bottom and somehow see whatever’s outside the peephole reaching far above your head. And why, exactly, did a 10-year-old have such dire need of a periscope? Well, to see inside bird’s nests, of course. The avian neighborhood, however, was rather obviously present. There were some visitors t...

Thoughts on coming back from a Facebook fast | Adventuring with Jesus

https://adventuringwithjesus.wordpress.com/2015/04/19/thoughts-on-coming-back-from-a-facebook-fast

Thoughts on coming back from a Facebook fast. When I first joined Facebook in 2007, I was just looking for a way to contact the girl who would be my freshman year roommate. Virginia Tech had sent me a letter informing me of her identity, but the only contact information they’d provided was a mailing address. How helpful. 8220;Try finding her on Facebook,” a friend suggested. I didn’t really like that person she was kind of boring and self-involved. Apr 19, 2015. Apr 21, 2015. Haha, good for you! Tacachia day one | Adventuring with Jesus

https://adventuringwithjesus.wordpress.com/2015/05/16/tacachia-day-one

Rounding out day one in Tacachia, day three in Bolivia, I can’t help but think about what seems to be a rather abysmal ratio of service I have done to service done to me. Everyone here has been so gracious to our group, filling our plates, setting the table, driving us all about, working through our collective difficulty at understanding their language. Said he traverses the route two or three times a week, but it still must require a lot of concentration to maneuver. After all, we’re here to serve...

Hemisphere switch complete! | Adventuring with Jesus

La Paz, as seen from the bus window. At this point, it’s coming up on 11, so I’ve only been in the country for a few hours, but here’s what I can tell you:. I loved the people–watching opportunities as we drove through the city. Children in school uniforms running to class, professionals in suits and polished black shoes, women wearing more traditional clothes like long skirts and shawls. And so many stray dogs, absolutely everywhere. It’s kind of amazing how many stray dogs. One street on top of another.

Tacachia day two | Adventuring with Jesus

Today I joined Equipo Cemento, a group charged with a very important task: building an outhouse. The project was one of several our team spent the day tackling, all aimed at improving the volunteer housing section of the children’s home so that it will eventually accommodate more than just groups of American volunteers. Retreats, events, that kind of thing. Lunchtime with the kids. Despite the language barrier, we had an incredibly good time. Through a combination of translating, gestures and impreci...

Adventuring With Anxiety – Formerly Red Tulips & Yellow Wallpaper

Formerly Red Tulips and Yellow Wallpaper. December 12, 2016. December 9, 2016. By Adventuring With Anxiety. It’s that time of the year when I can feel myself falling into one of my most destructive thought patterns. New Year’s resolutions are the bigger, more glamorous versions of the “some day really soon” brand of procrastination that undermines all my attempts to take back control of my life from mental illness. Books I mean, procrastinating when you’re attempting to write books is one (albeit d...

UCLH News – Governor’s Involvement Article. I recently wrote an article for UCLH News about some of the things Governors have been up to for the last year, it’s short so there’s not so much detail but (given the number of people who find this blog by searching for UCLH Governors) I thought some might find it helpful/interesting. Lindsay's Adventures!

Wednesday, May 6, 2015. My little babes are 9 months old, and I wish they would stop growing up so fast. The Korbinator is my adventurous little guy. He crawls all around the house to see what everyone is doing, and he can pull himself into a standing position. He still loves to eat, and he will eat just about anything. He can also click his tongue. We love him so much. Monday, May 4, 2015. The time has come to report on our pinterest challenge. I kind of took it easy this time around, mostly outfit,...

Wednesday, March 20, 2013. New Nephew and Niece! So much exciting news in our families during the last week! We've been blessed to have a new nephew and niece born all within a week! My brother, Adam, and his wife, Tami, welcomed little Porter into their family last week - March 13th - via C-section. adventuringwiththefather | Just a glimpse or two of God in my daily happenings

Just a glimpse or two of God in my daily happenings. August 12, 2015. I just arrived home yesterday from 6 days in Minnesota with family. It is good to belong to a family. I always feel a bit torn as I drive away. My love of going home to Kenora is tinged with wistfulness for familial belonging, and a few more suppers together. Belonging in two places at once is one of those “earth groanings”! Mom and Dad visit with granddaughter, Tracia, on the deck of their summer home on the Mississippi. 8221; Janet&#...
