Alison Cooper studied at Newport College of Art and Florence University. A love of gardening and plants in general led her to take up painting full time after her children went to school. She has since exhibited at the Royal Horticultural Society and won many medals, the most recent being a Silver Gilt for a collection of Dianthus. Her work is represented in the Dr Shirley Sherwood collection of Contemporary Botanical Artists, and photographs are held in the Bridgeman Art Library.

Much of my work is commissioned. Recent pieces include a set of six large vegetable paintings for Webb's of Wychbold, a set of four large cabbages and squashes for a private collection in Oxfordshire, and studies of old fashioned shrub roses for a client in Herefordshire. A particular speciality are paintings of bridal bouquets. A popular and original wedding present. These are either from life, preferable but not always practicable, or from good photographs. Private tuition can be arranged at home in my studio for up to six people at any one time, or on a one to one basis. I will provide plant material for you to paint and give advice on watercolours and techniques to enable you to paint plants in lively manner. A light lunch will be provided and bed and breakfast can be arranged locally. I am also available to give workshops to local art groups and to teach at Summer schools. Fees for workshops etc are negotiable.
