Evelyn Peerbaugh must open her home again and she thinks that these new women will be close, just like the previous tenants. Evelyn's new tenants, Heddy and Gail, are secretive women. They are not as open as the previous tenants and Evelyn is so distraught. Piper, from book1, has moved in because her mother might be dying and she needs to lend her apartment to her parents.
