A Year Down the Line (well 7 years now) A new chapter. Monday, 11 August 2014. We have had a lovely week with our first visitors. Couldn't have been more appreciative and helpful. They heaved furniture willingly, made and cleared up meals, took us out to dinner and taught me how to paint furniture. And they are lovely people too. All the painting we did was with Annie Sloan chalk paint from http:/ www.thomasandlucia.com. And the orangey pine of this mirror. What shall I paint next . Every day's a holiday.

A Year Down the Line (well 7 years now) A new chapter. Tuesday, 14 October 2014. Had me in stitches. The two nurses have between them been every day to give an injection and rebandage as required but as it comes nearer the time to take out the stitches they became a bit doubtful. Each hoping that the other one would do it. "Very good surgery but I think the doctor should take out the stitches.". OK today I go to the doctor. Lovely young woman. Very kind chat and then gets down to the job. Lots of love x.

A Year Down the Line (well 7 years now) A new chapter. Sunday, 22 December 2013. Roof all finished. Can't speak highly enough of the guys that did this. Brilliant, thoughtful job, thank you so much. (We're going to have to have pierres apparentes on these walls aren't we.). Should be able to heat it with a candle - or four candles (always makes me smile). And this. A Year Down the Line (well 7 years now) A new chapter. Friday, 21 March 2014. What's been happening this week? The electrician has finished the first fix. Which means that we can start wrapping the rooms up in brown paper. Or lining them with teddy bears. Your bedroom wall has been pointed. The balustrades have been fitted. Him Outdoors has been playing with frames for the plasterboard and lining them with cork. A man came and fitted the only handle that will fit on the tiny space left on the door frame.

A Year Down the Line (well 7 years now) A new chapter. Wednesday, 12 November 2014. I wish things were less vague. Every single question about the side effects of chemo is met with a 'maybe', 'sometimes', 'not always' occasionally a 'probably'. All the medical contacts to do with my cancer and chemo have changed the hair advice to 'it WILL fall out' with direct eye contact. Back to the 'maybe' for when that might be though. Everyone is examining my head to see if I still have any. The fly in the web.

Not huge amounts compared to some, I know, but we have moved several times without really clearing out stuff. I guess we haven’t really cleared properly since we fitted all our worldly goods into a 20ft container to leave for Singapore in 1997.
