Friday, December 16, 2011. 1 C powder sugar. 1 1/2 tsp almond extract. 2 1/2 C flour. 1/2 C crushed peppermint candy canes mixed with sugar. Cream sugar and butter, beat in egg and flavoring. Mix in flour and salt. Blend a few drops of red coloring into half of the dough. Bake 5-7 minutes at 375. Remove from oven and while still hot, sprinkle with candy cane mixture. My girls are 2 and 4 and this fits them perfectly. First I drew a rough design approximately 7.5 inches wide and 7 inches high on paper and used that as a template. She's always used a recipe that my Grandma Horstmeyer (a good Norwegian girl) used. Mom always said, "This is a good way to stretch a few eggs if you don't have any in the house." Since I try not to keep sweets in the house, it happens to me all the time. Box Zatarain's Black Beans and Rice mix (follow box directions). 1 can black beans. 1 can refried beans. 3-4 chicken breasts (boiled and shredded) or 1-1.5# ground beef. 3 cans enchilada sauce. 10-12 LARGE burrito shells. Cook the black beans and rice box according to box directions. Set up assembly station.
