Bacillus Coagulans – An Overview. What is Bacillus coagulans? Bacillus coagulans is a lactic acid forming bacterial species within the genus Bacillus. This organism was initially isolated and described as Bacllus coagulans in 1915 by B.W.Hanner at the Iowa Agricultural Experiment Station as a cause of an outbreak of coagulation in evaporated milk packed by an Iowa condensary. This is a type of bacteria which is used just as lactobacillus and the other probiotics which are all termed beneficial bacteria.
