Linda's Travel Blog

Linda's Travel Blog. Mike and I began traveling in January 2001 in either his 1998 Itasca motorhome or my 1995 Airex motorhome with 3 dogs. We now travel in our 2006 Itasca motorhome with one deaf 12-year old poodle. A Quick Summary – USA TOUR 2010. On 11/29/2010 10:12 am by linda. This fabulous 7-1/2 month journey is over, but the memories will last our lifetimes. Just for fun, here are some facts, figures and special memories of this trip:. 8211; 12,153 Jeep Miles – 9072 TOTAL = over 21,000 miles!

Our Toys

http://www.backroadtravelers.com/ourtoys.html

Like all RVers who have retired from the daily 8-5 grind (whew), we have accumulated lots of "stuff" over our many decades of existence. However, there are some things have have greater meaning than others. The three most-enjoyed items in our collection are the following:. Our 2006 Itasca Suncruiser motorhome. Our 1955 Oldsmobile 98 Holiday. To read a bit more about each of these goodies, just select the desired item in the drop-down sub-menu on the Main page. Back to Main Page.

Scenery Pictures

http://www.backroadtravelers.com/scenerypics.html

Linda and Mike both appreciate the wonderful scenery that we see as we travel around our country. We have even found beauty in a barren desert. However, we especially love the scenery (and scents) of the mountains, but we also need an occasional "ocean" fix. We hope you enjoy our collection of pictures, from the United States, Canada, and Mexico. Return to Main page or click Continue to go to the Flower Pictures section. Back to Main Page.

Our Classic Car

http://www.backroadtravelers.com/oldsmobile.html

Linda and Mike both have an attraction to classic cars. After getting together as a couple, Linda introduced Mike to several of her acquaintances and former co-workers who had classic cars or street rods and who belonged to a Sacramento area car club, the Central Valley Rods. After discovering their mutual interest in classic cars, Linda and Mike decided that, together, they wanted to have a classic car of their own, to enjoy the fellowship of "our" friends and their cars. We found a very well-preserved ...

Our Motorhome

http://www.backroadtravelers.com/suncruiser.html

Back in 2002, we were enjoying the fellowship of our gathering with RV America friends in Quartzsite, Arizona. We were "shopped out", so we decided, purely on a whim, to go over and "kick tires" looking at some of the many motorhomes that were on display (literally hundreds of motorhomes). We became very familiar with the subtle and not-so-subtle differences between the Winnebago Adventurer 33V and the Itasca Suncruiser 33V, both made by Winnebago Industries. In Forest City, Iowa. In Roseville, California.

The Great RV Escape: Winterization

http://thegreatrvescape.blogspot.com/2013/10/winterization.html

The Great RV Escape. Chronicles of a couple of Baby Boomers traveling the country fulltime in a motorhome for awhile. If we needed one more thing to remind us we're no longer traveling full time, we got it today. We winterized the moose. The National Weather Service issued a Freeze Warning as temperatures were forecasted to dip well into the 20s Thursday night. We pulled Bullwinkle out of storage, parked him in our driveway and turned on the heat. The moose made it through the chilly night just f...The p...

The Great RV Escape. Chronicles of a couple of Baby Boomers traveling the country fulltime in a motorhome for awhile. As I ponder the possible subjects for the last of my 366 daily snaps of the year, and Paul considers the first of his for tomorrow, we find ourselves reflecting in the final hours of 2012. This was a year that didn't exactly go as planned. (Do they ever? Was an unexpected and welcome treat. Our now trouble-free moose has made us happy campers, indeed! As fun as it was to revisit familiar ...

The Great RV Escape. Chronicles of a couple of Baby Boomers traveling the country fulltime in a motorhome for awhile. Did we really say we bought a house? Technically, we haven't bought it just yet. We made an offer, which has been accepted. We're currently in escrow. (And, that's such an exciting place to be! So, what's up? What prompted these two nomads to cough up the cash for a 2,100-square-foot split level in the 'burbs? Perhaps the best way to explain what's up is to answer a few questions. We feel...

The Great RV Escape: Time, Energy and Money

http://thegreatrvescape.blogspot.com/2013/07/time-energy-and-money.html

The Great RV Escape. Chronicles of a couple of Baby Boomers traveling the country fulltime in a motorhome for awhile. Time, Energy and Money. We thought this move would be simple. Who were we foolin'? It's been six weeks since we became land barons. By this time we were sure we'd be settled. Life would be normal, or close to it. The transition from living in a rolling home to a stick and brick house would be a distant memory. We're making progress. But, we are surprised at how much energy this never-...

The Great RV Escape: One Long Winter

http://thegreatrvescape.blogspot.com/2014/03/one-long-winter.html

The Great RV Escape. Chronicles of a couple of Baby Boomers traveling the country fulltime in a motorhome for awhile. It's the first day of Spring Break around here. The sun is shining. The thermometer is above 60. Kids of all ages are doing a happy dance. Winter doesn't officially come to end for another week. It can't come soon enough. This has been a long one. The Great RV Escape. Chronicles of a couple of Baby Boomers traveling the country fulltime in a motorhome for awhile. That has been the phrase of the day. Dozens of times we've found ourselves saying it to each other. We're getting there.". That short little phrase is a sign of progress. Without a doubt. It's been a week since we signed on the dotted line and got the keys to this place. Since then we've been busy cleaning, moving, unpacking, shopping and assembling. Yep We've done a lot of assembling.

Taking the back roads

Taking the back roads. Wednesday, January 8, 2014. A Road Trip with my Favorite Road Trip Partner. And then we had our children. Her girls are just about a year older than my son and daughter. They played together as children and went around together for a while with the same neighborhood kids. Things changed and life continued but not necessarily in the same environment. This was a great road trip, in all aspects and I wound up having some wonderful diversions and experiences. Taking the back roads.
