March 15, 2015. The Wilbur Dam controls the flow of the Watauga River in Tennessee, and also happens to be an awesome spot to catch a few trout unfortunately, it is also very well known and tends to get crowded on nice days. Nevertheless, it’s a great place to fish. It’s always important to keep a check on the generation schedule while you’re wading, the water rises fast! There are also really strange eddy lines throughout sections of this area that are sometimes hard to maneuver your flies around. Botto...

February 11, 2015. Towards the end of Autumn, I wasn’t sure how to feel about the impeding Tennessee arctic tundra that many people had expected to be the “worst winter ever.” I thought to myself “how am I supposed to fish? 8221; How was I going to spend several months with my fly rod and gear sitting in the corner of my room, untouched? I loved the beautiful spots on this brown! A lot of people are really into using streamers for fishing, but I usually have more fun when I use dry flies and droppers.

March 15, 2015. Bottom Bouncin’ Down the South Holston. If you haven’t drifted the South Holston, you need to add it to your fishing bucket list. Floating down this river makes for a perfect day, rain or shine. Using this rig can be extremely funky to get accustomed to! Pretty much everything you know about slingin dries goes out the window. There’s so much weight on the line that you have to chuck it back and forth a few times and rip on the line to get it to go! Using Nature as my Guide. Fill in your d...

South Holston: Weir Dam | Forever Flyfish

January 10, 2015. South Holston: Weir Dam. I like to fish right below the dam, and when you pull in the parking lot you’ll probably be worried about the amount of cars parked. Surprisingly not many people fly fish right below the dam and they usually go further down river instead. There are generally a few people spin fishing, but there’s plenty of room there for everyone to fish! Keep safe distances away from other people so they can all enjoy the river.
