C.’s First Garden Vegetable | backyard food
https://backyardfood.wordpress.com/2012/07/26/c-s-first-garden-vegetable
C’s First Garden Vegetable. July 26, 2012 2 Comments. The day for Chloe’s first taste of garden veggies came much faster than I thought it would (sniff.sniff.my baby’s growing up so fast) and it passed with flying colors. We have some beautiful yellow carrots coming up and we thought those would do the trick. For the record, Chloe did not eat all four carrots in one sitting. (Though she probably would have if we’d let her keep going! C’s First Garden Vegetable. July 26, 2012 at 1:30 pm. Follow “bac...
We Bought A Share | backyard food

We Bought A Share. December 14, 2012. We might be a little crazy. A couple of months ago, Matt and I decided to purchase a share with the Pioneer Valley Heritage Grains CSA. Tomorrow, we will pick up our share — all 50 pounds of it. Yep, you read that right: 50 POUNDS. Of locally grown wheat, spelt, dried beans, flint and dent corn (for cornmeal, hominy, etc.) , popcorn and emmer (farro). I don’t have a CLUE where we’re going to fit it in our (teeny tiny) kitchen. Signs of Things to Come. May 20, 2012. Happy Mama’s Day. May 13, 2012. Hope you’re enjoying a beautiful day with the mamas in your life. And to all the hard-working mamas out there, hope you’re getting a well-deserved break and celebrating your awesome mom-ness! May 10, 2012 9 Comments. Rhubarb is typically the first thing to arrive in our garden. Truth be told, until this year, we’ve. No longer would our rhubarb sit idle and unused. This would be the year we’d learn to cook. Two Salads & A Fancy Sandwich | backyard food

Two Salads and A Fancy Sandwich. July 28, 2012. We don’t get too crazy with our food around here on weeknights. Most things get tossed in olive oil, garlic, salt and pepper, cooked up in one way or another, and that’s about it. It’s simple, fast and good. But every now and again, we get a burst of creative energy. We turned a few found garden goodies…. 8230;into quite the fancy weeknight dinner, if we do say so ourselves…. Fried Green Tomato BLT’s. Warm Dijon Potato and Green Bean Salad.

Grilled Chicken, Red Leaf Lettuce and Goat Cheese Salad. July 15, 2012. Summer is in full-swing and everything is happening at a faster pace. Weddings, parties, get-togethers, work events… the calendar feels crammed to the brim once the warm days are here. Even the less exciting day-to-day pace feels sped up, especially with a five month old rolling around! It’s not even worth photographing the steps to make this easy, go-to salad, inspired by a meal I. Devoured at lighting speed. 2 Tbsp. olive oil.

State of the CSA. March 26, 2013. In December, Matt, Chloe and I picked up our Pioneer Valley Heritage Grain CSA. Share at Waltham Fields Community Farm in Waltham, Mass. It was a beautiful, sunny day and we made a fun trip of it, making a pit stop at the Somerville winter farmers’ market. What a great market!
