FoxAfricanSafari: August 2010
http://foxafricansafari.blogspot.com/2010_08_01_archive.html
Serving the Lord in Kisumu, Kenya. Sunday, August 29, 2010. Recently we asked a missionary what was the most fun thing about serving as Assistant to the President. "Fun? He said puzzled. "I don't know about fun. The best thing was the spirit I always felt at the office.". For example, in Alma 43:8 I realized the leader stirred up the Lamanites to anger against the Nephities that he might get "great power" over BOTH the Lamanites and the Nephites. How does getting people angry give power to the leader?

FoxAfricanSafari: November 2010
http://foxafricansafari.blogspot.com/2010_11_01_archive.html
Serving the Lord in Kisumu, Kenya. Tuesday, November 30, 2010. A Week of Thanks. We had an exciting lead up to Thanksgiving. The Saturday before (Nov20th) we introduced the Worldwide Broadcast of the New Church Handbooks to the leadership of the Kisumu branch. E Fox and I previewed the DVD the day before… the day it arrived… and we showed it the next day. It’s a wonderful presentation. One person said, “If you want to keep a secret, put it in the handbook.”. Then we found Elmenteita Safari Camp an upscal...

FoxAfricanSafari: October 2010
http://foxafricansafari.blogspot.com/2010_10_01_archive.html
Serving the Lord in Kisumu, Kenya. Thursday, October 28, 2010. A “Quiet” Thursday. Our schedule was open for Thursday. We had been busy most all the week and we looked at Thursday and thought… Oh, Good. Let’s not schedule anything that day. We can prepare lessons and catch up on some things. But at 8:30 a member came to check and fix a leaky toilet in the church. At 9-9:30 we got to visit with Elder and Sister G. who had gone to Mbita to look at the water project. And we hate to see them go! Fortunately ...

FoxAfricanSafari: Settling In
http://foxafricansafari.blogspot.com/2011/05/settling-in.html
Serving the Lord in Kisumu, Kenya. Sunday, May 8, 2011. I thought coming home would be like putting on a pair of comfortable shoes- I'd just slip right in. It didn't work that way. I think we were more like the younger missionaries. We came off our mission and what were we to do next? Maybe a combination of young missionary/old missionary problems- we couldn't remember where things were in our home. Where's the silverware? Where did we keep the iron? Was that piece of furniture always there? Watermark te...

FoxAfricanSafari: December 2010
http://foxafricansafari.blogspot.com/2010_12_01_archive.html
Serving the Lord in Kisumu, Kenya. Friday, December 31, 2010. We had two children of a family going to the temple. They needed to have their missionary papers processed in order to go to the temple and both be sealed to their parents and take out their own endowments. We learned yesterday that they had been assigned a mission and so could do all this! That was exciting and they processed the papers very quickly! Tom and Sandy Fox. Links to this post. Monday, December 27, 2010. The Nature of God. Also, wh...

FoxAfricanSafari: April 2011
http://foxafricansafari.blogspot.com/2011_04_01_archive.html
Serving the Lord in Kisumu, Kenya. Thursday, April 28, 2011. Friday morning we planned to get up at 4:30 to be prepared for the 6am departure to the airport. We set the alarm. We failed, however, to turn on the alarm. We awoke at 5:15. I didn't know I could shower, finish packing, clean the room, and be ready so fast. I even got a little breakfast. I preferred to go out with a rush. We stuffed much into the last days of our mission. It was a good way for the last day to begin. It's just lovely. I mos...

FoxAfricanSafari: In the Moment
http://foxafricansafari.blogspot.com/2011/04/in-moment.html
Serving the Lord in Kisumu, Kenya. Sunday, April 17, 2011. We have been blessed to be “in the moment”—not worrying about things past or anticipating things in the future (very much.). Monday and Tuesday we cleaned, packed, finished all the zillions of odds and ends we needed to do before leaving. We spent way too much time at Telkom, calling customer service, and explaining the problem as we worked on a refund for days the internet was off line. I wrote up George’s chicken project. On the way we talked.

FoxAfricanSafari: July 2010
http://foxafricansafari.blogspot.com/2010_07_01_archive.html
Serving the Lord in Kisumu, Kenya. Wednesday, July 28, 2010. The periphery is not a bad place to be. As missionaries we focus on the Lord's work and let the work of Man pretty much run by itself, trusting the Lord will not let too much go amiss of our business while we are away. The Jaws theme song)! Watch out. Get your blood pressure up. Find safe shelter! It's sure to be the BIG disaster. What I love about the Gospel of Jesus Christ is the peace that comes from understanding the plan of salvation. ...

FoxAfricanSafari: Things I will miss
http://foxafricansafari.blogspot.com/2011/04/things-i-will-miss.html
Serving the Lord in Kisumu, Kenya. Tuesday, April 12, 2011. Things I will miss. As we prepare to leave Kenya, here is a random list of thing I will miss. I will miss all the wonderful people. Saying good-by to those we have come to love is difficult. For many, we are the church are intertwined. We are the face of the church and they wonder if they will be able to go on without us. Of course they will. They will do fine. But our hearts will always be with our friends here. 8220;I was very bad off back then.
