Sunday, 14 December 2014. Beer O'Clock Show Homebrew Special. Earlier in the summer Steve, one of the hosts of the excellent. Asked myself a couple of other well know Twitter homebrewers ( Ady Goodrich. Whether we would want to feature on this years homebrew special. T. He only stipulation being that I had to re-brew the Black Forest Stout. I had sent him the year previous. Obviously I jumped at the chance and despite one failed brew the final beer turned out pretty good. Anyway, enough chit-chat! 30 g -...

Monday, 23 February 2015. Whirlpool Hopping - 80°C vs 100°C. It's widely regarded that if you want extract as much aroma and flavour out of your hops you would whirlpool at 80°C, which is just below the threshold in which the hop oil would boil off. The mythbusters at Port66 wanted to put this too the test, whirling pooling batches at both 80°C and 100°C, with some pretty surprising results. The Fine Art of Matching Beer with Bar Snacks. Tuesday, 12 May 2015. AG #1 - Paradise Porter. However, a year later that beer was absolutely spot on. The plan for our beer was to create a subtle toasted coconut flavour bouncing off the roasted grain, the backbone of a robust porter. Not only was this going to be my first forae into true all grain brewing, but it would the first time I get to use my new 100 litre kit in anger. Nothing like starting off simple eh? What I hadn't factored in was the temperature of the stainless steel mash tun! With the w...

Monday, 8 June 2015. AG #2 - Melon Farmer Saison. It’s a mellow hop so I planned to bulk it out a with some Topaz. This I had absolutely shitloads of lying around after a bulk club purchase. After what I thought was a disastrous first brew on the new kit (the resultant beer actually turned out very good! Still, it’s only my second brew so I shouldn't expect it to be perfect just yet. Assuming I was over the worse, I foolishly threw in the wrong first wort hops! 5 kg Vienna (77%). 15 kg Maris Otter (23%).

Monday, 23 March 2015. Macc Homebrew Goes To Chorlton Brew Co. It’s exciting times for beer at the moment, especially around the North West, with new breweries popping up at a rate of knots producing some truly superb beers. One such brewery to hit the scene recently is Chorlton Brewing Company. He was going to be out of action for weeks, which isn't a great position to be in with a fledgling brewery to run, so it was the perfect time to offer our assistance. In true new brewery fashion Chorlton Brew Co&...

Monday, 4 November 2013. Gyle 29 - UK grown Columbus US IPA. I was given some UK grown Columbus hops by @. That were grown by by some of his friends, and so I thought I would make a nice US IPA body to try and showcase them. Links to this post. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). Hopsinjoor's Brewing Spot: Homebrew Wednesday - KungFuRamone

Wednesday, 9 July 2014. Homebrew Wednesday - KungFuRamone. This is only the second one of these, mainly as I don't seem to drink beers on a Wednesday. This is not the case today. AKA Dave Harrison-Ward is a homebrewer from Macclesfield who has the rather ace blog Brews Implosion! And recently he joined in on the bulk buying of hops that is enjoyed by some homebrewers in the Manchester area. He got some rather lovely Sorachi Ace whole hops, and he used the lot to make a Vienna Sorachi Saison. All in, this...

Tuesday, 20 May 2014. Gyle 37 - Experimental 366 IPA Mk 3. I’ve not brewed for a while, 2 months to be exact. The main reason is that I’ve been finishing off the final exams and dissertation for my BEng in Mechanical Engineering. That was finished as of yesterday, so this morning I got my brew kit out! This brewday took place on the 18th of August, and the premise was that my dear friend Arlo Sunny Attenborrow Greenway from Port Street Beer House would come round and we would brew a beer. Friday, 27 June 2014. Gyle 38 - Sunny Garden Pale. I’m not generally arsed with low ABV beers, there’s so many shite sub 5% beers around, and I’ve had very little luck the 6 times I’ve tried to go below 5%. So I generally set the lower limit at 5%. All that’s changed with all these lower ABV beers that have the body and taste of a higher ABV beer. A little hoppy gnome zombie if you will. Links to this post. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). Friday, 14 August 2015. Macc Homebrew Change Venues. I was just sat here trying to recall how long the Macclesfield Homebrew Club has been going and came to the startling realisation that we're coming up to our 2nd anniversary! It just seems like yesterday that we were all sat around the massive round tables in Red Willow all getting to know each other! Other than the venue, nothing else has changed! So if you fancy meeting up with some fellow homebrewers, pop down! Sunday, 21 June 2015. For the life of ...

A bold concoction of life experiences, creativity, and intuitive observation, garnished with tasty reviews and recognitions of the craft beer world. Alone as a God. March 10, 2018. How do you imagine it would feel like, to be a god? Most iterations of gods, or godly deities have a curious commonality. They are very much alone. Allow me to immediately address some counter arguments to this. 8220;But in Greek Mythology there was Olympus, and Zeus and other gods lived on the mountain and they had each other!
