Crossing for a Cure
Crossing for a Cure. Friday, March 10, 2017. It's 2017 and I haven't written in this blog since 2012-nearly 6 years ago! With a New Years resolution to write more, I thought I'd dust this thing off and reconnect with all of you. I hope this post finds you all well and having a great start to 2017! What the heck is going on? Since I can't physically swim The Channel to raise awareness and funds every year, I have taken it upon myself to research as often as possible and educate others on beating cancer fr...

crossingforks | Reflections on travel and life
Reflections on travel and life. April 3, 2015. Korea is one hell of a densely packed nation. More than 50 million people are squeezed into an area of about 100,000 km. We’re talking India density here, higher than China density. And roughly half of the country is mountainous and not suited for maintaining dense populations. So with all these people about, how exactly does Korean society turn out to be so friendly and polite? Continue reading →. First days in Busan. March 15, 2015. Continue reading →.

Crossing France by bike
Crossing France by bike. From the Atlantic coast to the German border. Wednesday, 12 August 2009. Day 12: Strasbourg - Strasbourg. The ride up to the border was a breeze, whereas going back was like entering a storm head first - very windy and tiring. Luckily, it eased off a little after a while, and in the end it wasn't too exhausting. Total distance: 1704 km (1626.8 on the bicycle computer). Maximum speed: 58.6 km/h. Average speed: 24.8 km/h. Total ascend: 10974 m. Time in motion: 68:35. Anyway, I stil...
Crossing Freeway
On December 2007, our computer outsourcing company warned us of a 100% price increase for their services. Because of a legal/technical issue, the price increase wouldn’t go into effect until a year later. We could hardly pay the $35,000/month that they charged us. How could we pay $70,000/month? We had one year to do something about it: if we could convert our mainframe programs to run on a Microsoft Server platform, we would be free at last! 1) the total cost wouldn’t be cheaper than the mainframe.

May 10, 2015. May 10, 2015. First Chapter of Sagor ur Skogen, “Fairytales From the Forest”. On Wednesday, my mom invited a Swedish friend from work for dinner. After a wonderful meal, he read aloud the first chapter of Sagor ur Skogen, the book of short stories written by my third great grandmother, translating it line by line from Swedish into English. I transcribed what he read and you can read … Continue reading First Chapter of Sagor ur Skogen, “Fairytales From the Forest”. May 10, 2015. May 10, 2015.
