Was really the end of the beginning of my running experience in a manner of speaking, this one I take you back to my “greatest athletics/sports achievements! However in about 1958 or 9, I did achieve a third place in the, whatever it was, 3 times round the sports field event. I was requested to participate, actually told that they would beat me within an inch of my life if I didn’t!

I am jumping the gun a bit in terms of sequence of my Blogs but I just had to do this while this was fresh in my mind and still in the elation of The Day . After my failure of Comrades 2015 where I got to 63km and decided I had lost too much time through cramping. I had a choice, either call it a day and quit attempts at Comrades or try again. I chose the latter on the basis that 2016 would be a final attempt! I finally went to our GP in February, (a...

June 3, 2016. June 3, 2016. Where it started Part 2. Where it all started Part 2. This follows on from my previous blog and cover the period of when I actually started in this crazy activity. However, what they don’t always tell you what the side effects can be and that they can come and bite you latter as they did me! The biggest of which, I believe contributed to my IBS (Irritable bowel Syndrome) and the inability (or at least difficulty) in vomiting! But I’ll get back into how this affected me later!
