Farkel West: April 2009
http://www.kawecki.us/2009_04_01_archive.html
Tuesday, April 7, 2009. I know that it has been a long time since the last post, but the past three weeks have been the big race to the finish, and WE MADE IT! The stucco was finished, the water heater hooked up, and the floors uncovered; not to mention the boxes and boxes that were moved in, my truck breaking down again, and the film crew shooting in the garage! But with all that, we still spent our first night in the new house on Saturday March 28! And here is the bathroom now! We found the curtain for...
Garage / Workshop: July 2008

Thursday, July 17, 2008. The dejected garage.complete with.skylight? It has been some time since this space has seen love, but soon it will be the heart of renovation operations. Two full size bays, with high ceilings, this is a huge space! Once the roof is fixed, trees are cut away, and new door is installed; this space will house the workshop and tools for this and future projects. Plans are to replace the door with an 8' sliding barn style door leading into the workshop. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom).
Farkel West: June 2009
http://www.kawecki.us/2009_06_01_archive.html
Tuesday, June 30, 2009. From fire pit to sidewalk. Remember that old fire pit in the back yard? It is long gone, but now the bricks have found their way to the front yard. After 25 bags of gravel and 60 bags of sand, I started to lay the old bricks in place. The supply was supplemented by more old bricks found on craigslist. We wanted to use the old bricks so that the new walk didn't look too new. Monday, June 8, 2009. Tuesday, June 2, 2009. And green and green and green. The lawn is starting to fill in!

Wednesday, January 28, 2009. It has been a very busy week. Last week the new front door came in and we installed the new front entry. First we removed the old windows and door, and then we reframed the front wall to house our new door. Originally we were not expecting the new door until the 30th, but they called and told us it was ready for pick up the same day that we started the work! Here are a few shots of the old wall coming down. This week we have been finishing the plaster and drywall work inside&...

Wednesday, November 19, 2008. New Ideas, More Demo, Some New Framing, and Power! In the kitchen, but Abbey has given me some cautious optimism about the color and look of the new fluorescent lights. We shall see! Today I helped Javier (our carpenter and plumber) to install the new floor joist in the bathroom. The drains throughout the house are nearly complete and tomorrow he is going to start putting the new copper piping. We will probably be getting our new Tankless Water Heater. Now, about that kitchen.

Tuesday, May 26, 2009. It has been a week since we seeded the lawn and we are now starting to see the results of our efforts! The lawn is starting to come in. We are still on a twice a day watering routine but hopefully we can start to cut that back soon. Here are a few shots of the progress! Last week I also picked up 300 more bricks, so we should now have enough to do the front walkway! More to come soon! Friday, May 15, 2009. A little light, a little color, a lot of dirt. Over the past few weeks, we s...

Backyard
Sunday, November 2, 2008. A day of brush clearing. We actually have a driveway! The tree looks a lot better and is no longer attacking the garage roof! Now we just need the dumpster to get rid of all of this stuff! Thursday, July 17, 2008. The Backyard.before planting. And Abbey can't wait to start planting. Oh yeah.did we mention there is plenty of room for dog(s) to run? Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). Email us: Gregg and Abbey. A day of brush clearing.

Bathroom
Saturday, November 1, 2008. Thursday, July 17, 2008. The Downstairs Bathroom - Prior to Renovation. Seems small at first, but once the tub is removed and the wall pushed out to make room for a shower where the water heater is currently rusting outside, this downstairs bathroom should be fine. The room will be gutted and the plumbing redone to accommodate the master bathroom plumbing in the add on room above. (see 3d Renderings). And oh yeah. the yellow seat is already long gone! Wednesday, July 16, 2008. The front yard.yep.needs work too. Bush removal, porch renovation, and the addition of a few trees and plants. Saturday, November 1, 2008. Tuesday, October 28, 2008. We have redesigned the main floor plan for the house and are now going to remodel and expand the kitchen in the front of the house. Here are some new renderings of the new kitchen design. Thursday, July 17, 2008. Yeahthat's what we thought too! This kitchen is OLD! And without a doubt going away. Thursday, July 17, 2008. The Living Room - prior to renovation. Master Bathroom
Wednesday, July 16, 2008. Master Bathroom - somewhere here. The space for the master bathroom does not yet exist. In the 3D Rendering section you can see that the upstairs dormer is going to be extended out over the downstairs bathroom, creating a large space off the master bedroom for the master bath.
