Friday, May 2, 2014. Right now, right now. It's been sunny and hot for days; the air smells of rain to come. I harvested a full handful of asparagus in the dark tonight as I was fishing discarded socks out of the weeds. Mercifully, I didn't know I'd have a chance. I thought we'd all be drooling in the car all afternoon, doing our obedient thing. So when we opted out, I forgot to try to get my kids to leave me alone long enough to get something done already. Saturday, February 23, 2013. So, yes, it's been a while since - what? I have been in the garden, and we have been eating, but some other things have been going on also. And I do have photos of some of those other things. But nothing kills a project for me faster than being behind and trying to catch up. So fuck it. Pretend we're all caught up. Here's what I did on Wednesday. Harvested the bits and bobs. (Why did so many of the kohlrabi grow in tube shapes? Why can't I grow beets? Other People Grew It.

I love to cook! Can, bake, experiment, use local–What is this from the CSA…. Now, why does the house smell like that? March- it is Lent, time to watch Chocolat. A fine time to improve diet. CSA b. Agfuls call for stir fry. January, pulling frozen fruit from the freezer for jam and leather. The bubbly warm pot and slow oven are so welcome in January! Sunday, November 6, 2016. Daffodils, order in 11.6.2016. Too hard to tell when this was taken, because of busted iPhoto. The spring Clara was 2, I think. I ordered bulbs today, better late than never. I'll put most of them in the front yard. Every year when they are up I know just what shapes and pieces of the season are missing. And every fall it all seems totally abstract. Maybe this fall that will all change. Or do I like it better to be surprised, wondering, not quite keeping up? Zz in the garden.
