Ponderings and Observations

Wednesday, July 15, 2015. How our we suppose to remember? Monday, June 22, 2015. I am helping a friend write some discipleship curriculum for a church he is starting out in Colorado and I get to help people explore the different forms of the Trinity and I figured I would share what I am writing here. I would like to start off with a question that Joan Osborne’s ask in one of her more famous songs and that’s "What if God was one of us? 2 If God is holy and His character unblemished, can or should we striv...

I would like to start off with a question that Joan Osborne’s ask in one of her more famous songs and that’s "What if God was one of us? The second characteristic of God is His holiness. What does holiness mean and does God sit in some ivory tower untouched? 3 Afte...

Ponderings and Observations: May 2015

http://www.hittingthelongball.blogspot.com/2015_05_01_archive.html

Tuesday, May 19, 2015. Livin on a Prayer. High school reunion and they still haven’t left high school. Now there are other forms of prayer and there are all ways to communicate with God and to have a relationship with Him. To paraphrase a C.S. Lewis puts it, "Prayer is not so we can change the mind of God, but so we can be changed by God." Maybe we shouldn't be a people who are livin on a prayer but livin on many prayers. Ponderings and Observations: June 2014

http://www.hittingthelongball.blogspot.com/2014_06_01_archive.html

Monday, June 16, 2014. The church and spurs. This applies to more than just the pastor. The church leaders are not the ones with the title, but the one who has a sphere of influence. When the decisions are being made, who are people turning to for guidance and who ultimately can sway the vote. It is being consistent and it also is being molded by Jesus so they can mold other people. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). The church and spurs. View my complete profile.

SWC The Journey: Confession . . .

http://swcjourney.blogspot.com/2008/03/confession.html

Wednesday, March 19, 2008. Confession . . . During this chapter Coach D recounts John Wesley’s thoughts on confession and how it was apart of the weekly small groups or class meetings. I wonder what the American Church would look like if every small group and Sunday school class would ask the following four questions: “What known sins have you committed since our last meeting? 8221; “What temptations have you met with? 8221; “How were you delivered? Keys (aka Josh Keesling). Confession . . .

SWC The Journey: Charity . . .

http://swcjourney.blogspot.com/2008/04/charity.html

Tuesday, April 8, 2008. Charity . . . After reading this chapter I am find myself processing the need to be outside the normal Christian bumble that our North American Churches provide. Coach D makes the statement that, “Christians do not fail when they see needs up close; we just fail by arranging our lives so that we never see needy people” (118). I started to ask myself where are the needy people around me today? Or have I come to a place where only the people around me are just like me?

SWC The Journey: January 2008

http://swcjourney.blogspot.com/2008_01_01_archive.html

Wednesday, January 30, 2008. Silence . . . According to Coach D, “Silence is abstaining from sound in order to open our spiritual ears and listen more closely to the voice of God. God seldom speaks loudly. He usually speaks in a ‘still small voice,’ often little more than an impression in our minds (see 1 Kings 19:12 KJV).”. How many hours each day is the television on? When you are out to dinner or coffee, how time do you spend listening to your companions? Keys (aka Josh Keesling). Fasting . . .

SWC The Journey: Rest . . .

http://swcjourney.blogspot.com/2008/02/rest.html

Monday, February 11, 2008. Right out the gate Coach D defines the spiritual discipline of rest as a “retreat from the frantic pace of life in order to be restored physically and spirituality. The practice of the discipline involves taking days off and vacations, and getting a full night’s sleep – every night.”. How do you define rest? When was the last time you rested? SWC The Journey: Simplicity . . .

http://swcjourney.blogspot.com/2008/02/simplicity.html

Wednesday, February 6, 2008. Simplicity . . . Coach D says the reason for practicing the simplicity, as a discipline is “to break free from the mastery of materialism and refocus our eyes on God.” What is keeping you from practicing simplicity in your life? How will you start today moving towards freedom in simplicity of life? What are your thoughts on simplicity? Keys (aka Josh Keesling). Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). SWC The Journey: Secrecy . . .

http://swcjourney.blogspot.com/2008/02/secrecy.html

Sunday, February 24, 2008. Secrecy . . . I found myself even today as I write these comments asking some hard questions about “Whom I seek affirmation or recognition from? After reading the chapter and Philippians I am left thinking about my own personal motivates and propose this question to us all, have you checked your motivations this week? And what will you do to being practicing secrecy this week? Keys (aka Josh Keesling). Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). Whats Your Favorite Book of the Bible.

Hitting The Learning Curve | Continuous Improvement in School Leadership

Continuous Improvement in School Leadership. Hitting The Learning Curve. Insane Store Policy: An Analogy to Insane Grading Policy. It all started when my wife asked me if I could pick her up a flat iron at Walmart on my way home from work. Sure- that sounds simple enough. The “manager” (still not looking up): “Yes, I guess you can do that”. You have got to be kidding me! So standing there, I bought the item that I held in my hand, online, via my iPhone. Now technically owning the item, having paid fo...

Hitting the Mark

Monday, 31 October 2016. As time grows shorter it looms. Weaving a fine robe. Righteousness and mercy kiss. Bride price paid carved in God's hand. Sunday, 30 October 2016. Finding a simple rhyme is rough. Like don't rhyme tough with through. Trying to keep it simple and clean. Is as overwhelming as a lean wave on the ocean. Sometimes the choices you view are few. Like thread from your new trousseau when you sew. Proper accent may not pass if you're in Kansas. You will certainly face a lot of laughter.
