Homesteading in Alaska: Spring is here!
http://homesteadinginalaska.blogspot.com/2012/03/spring-is-here.html
We are a small family living in Alaska trying to become self-sufficient and dependent only on ourselves. So far so good. Saturday, March 31, 2012. Ok, I have no excuses. It has been a long winter, but break-up is officially here. Yesterday we had 50 degree weather. The road ice is starting to melt. There are lots of puddles and gravel is visible in some spots! Translation: When we tried to plan baby #2 "better" we ended up with baby due right in the middle of break-up. With spring comes dreams of summer.

We are a small family living in Alaska trying to become self-sufficient and dependent only on ourselves. So far so good. Saturday, March 30, 2013. My quest to find a way to eventually be able to quit working outside the home and be able to support ourselves off our little homestead is in the works. After a lot of research time I can semi-comfortable say, " I HAVE A PLAN! Enter the Grobarek family business. A local, family owned, small scale, free-range egg enterprise! Sells his eggs to two big grocery st...

We are a small family living in Alaska trying to become self-sufficient and dependent only on ourselves. So far so good. Sunday, February 3, 2013. Good morning starshine - the earth says hello.". After almost an entire year of NOT writing, I am back. And a tad embarassed! Last April - on the 16th - I had a second baby. We named him Emil Thomas. Because of our brand new addition, I took a break from the homestead thing. I spent all summer at the MRC with my husband. We did some projects. For the Karma -.

I'm a Chevy "Weekend Warrior"! Dana Clover is a Social Media Manager and Consultant, a writer, lover of pink electronics, avid Twitterer, and an imperfect mother of 5. View my complete profile. Thursday, November 4, 2010. A Dream Come True! As I’ve told you before, I’m a truck girl. Even before Chevy let me test drive their beautiful Silverado, I drove a truck daily. I’ve always had a silly little dream…. I have always wanted a dog that would ride everywhere with me in my truck. I mean Great Dane big.
Homesteading Housewives | Just three gals crazy about local food, canning parties, raising livestock, and more!
Preperation H to the rescue. Several months ago Katie and I went in together to buy some Bresse chicken eggs. They hatch, not a good hatch, and they didn’t all seem to Bresse standard. Long story short, I have two that fit the bill and looks like they are a boy and girl. I had high hopes to breed them when the girl starts laying. It’s never dull here. Ever. Have a great Tuesday. The one eyed chick….Igor? But as you can see, fat and healthy babies. Love chicks. A Day in the Life. All week I’ve been ...

Homesteading in a Condo
Homesteading in a Condo. Two humans, two rabbits, 40,000 worms, and a really big deck. Wednesday, December 30, 2009. Best You Tube video I've seen all year. This video has nothing to do with canning or adorable conures sleeping in my hand, but it does combine my all-time favorite movie and my barely-contained fury over the last decade. Thanks, Reagan, and all you doofus Chicago School economists, for ushering in the era of laissez faire on crack. Monday, November 23, 2009. Sunday, November 22, 2009.

Just another WordPress.com site. March 11, 2011. As I’m walking through the aisles at Wal-Mart, everywhere I look, I am hit with sticker shock. In WAL-MART! What is happening with the price of virtually everything? We are in a supposed recession and prices are skyrocketing? Because we live in a society in which we want everything. And we are willing to pay anything. We can afford to get it. And not what we want. So what does this have to do with sticker shock at Wal-Mart? Greed, greed, and more greed!

Homesteading in Lawrence
Saturday, May 1, 2010. I keep meaning to take some lovely pictures to share and keep forgetting. I have a friend coming along this week who is a great photographer so maybe she can get some shots for me. An email from the Lawrence Farmers Market informed me that the weekday markets will open this coming week. We plan to at least attend the Thursday one on the west side. It is only fitting that we represent our side of town. Links to this post. Friday, April 16, 2010. Farm-fresh chicken eggs, emu eggs.
