Jennie Around the World. News and updates, perspectives and stories, by Jennie on her journey. Friday, September 27, 2002. After three awesome days of dive-until-you-drop adventures in the Great Barrier Reef, we took off up to the Daintree Rainforest, on up to Cooktown, then West to the dry, bushy cavelands of Chillagoe, and finally to the Tablelands and another rainforest where we stayed in a luxury cottage for two days! Sunday, September 15, 2002. NO CANS IN CAIRNS. OFF TO SEE THE WIZARD. In a long sto...
Jennie 2005 Travels: Have plan, will travel
http://jennieworld2005.blogspot.com/2005/10/have-plan-will-travel.html
Thursday, October 13, 2005. Have plan, will travel. Having a plan gives me great relief, gives me something specific to work towards, rather than wondering and exploring more options until I run out of time and can do nothing. I will come back someday to do the Langtang trek, or maybe one of the other Everest region treks that require a few weeks and more advance planning. I have enjoyed instant messaging with those up late enough (or in different time zones) a few times! Have plan, will travel.
Jennie 2005 Travels: Raju's cousins
http://jennieworld2005.blogspot.com/2005/10/rajus-cousins.html
Wednesday, October 12, 2005. Today is the Dashain festival, when children get new clothes and Hindu people make offerings at the small shrines everywhere, and get tikhas from their relatives. Raju's littlest nephew playing with flowers and doing namaste (hands together). House where Raju's cousins stay. Yesterday when we arrived we all sat around the living room, and when the time came, I ate with them. Raju's mother and his niece. Aruna and me with the feast set before us. View of Kathmandu on the way up.

I wandered through cobbled streets, then up to the citadel. Of san Jorge for post-sunset views of the city. Then down again for sometthing to eat, and a taxi ride back before.

Jennie Around the World. News and updates, perspectives and stories, by Jennie on her journey. Tuesday, December 04, 2001. Last Monday I took the bus out to the Indian consulate in San Francisco to submit my application for a tourist visa, and then I went to meet my travel agent to pick up my tickets. After all the planning, selecting destinations and dates, it still didn't feel completely real- I had to get those tickets into my hot little hands before I could feel confident about my itinerary.

Jennie Around the World. News and updates, perspectives and stories, by Jennie on her journey. Friday, April 19, 2002. What a beautiful day to bike across the Kathmandu valley to the medieval city of Bhaktapur! When things happen repeatedly without comment or outrage I think people tend to stop noticing; just when it's vital to make sure to notice.). Our bike ride today was really great, though! In an apparent effort to practice their English. Even SPF 45 sunscreen and a hat weren't quite enough to prote...

Jennie Around the World. News and updates, perspectives and stories, by Jennie on her journey. Wednesday, May 29, 2002. ONE NIGHT IN BANGKOK. After Sunset on my Nepal. I arrived in Thailand yesterday, and more than anything else so far, I think I have landed in culinary heaven! A walk partway around the northern end of the lake, a one-day rafting trip and a tiny bit more exploring in Kathmandu. I guess that's as good a tool as any, though I have found that expecially when the rice is at all clumpy, it's ...

The Episcopal Baptismal Covenant and Moral Foundations Theory. I had a revelation while listening to a sermon recently – a preacher’s dream for his or her congregants, no? Our rector mentioned Bryan Owen’s (2008) statement that liberal Episcopalians tend to limit their application of the Baptismal Covenant in their daily lives to those questions about loving our neighbors and striving for justice and peace. As described at moralfoundations.org. Where you can learn everything you want to know about Moral ...

The white Christmas was fun and even driving home that night wasn't bad- -perhaps thanks to all-wheel-drive. The time was fun for talking with my sister, Jordan, and squinting out at the snow-covered trees and rocks that so completely changed familiar landscapes along the roads. Sunday, December 15, 2002. I'm living in California, having completed two circumnavigations of the globe. It's good to have a home and a community, and I am happily married, employed, and well-addicted to my mobile phone, farmer's market, Whole Foods, Trader Joe's and other luxuries of living where I do. I have yet to make the time to put together all my pictures and notes plus my BLOG.

Developing myself in 2016. Tuesday, November 22, 2016. Year round-up posts usually come at the end of December so it's a little odd that I'm posting mine mid-way through November. I think I'm just at the right stage where I want to draw a line under 2016 and I want to share everything I learnt on here. Everything I achieved. Everything that changed me, because it's no secret that this was probably the biggest roller-coaster year of my life so far. As a Christmas reward from work I got given driving lesso...
