November | 2011 | Journey Into Design
https://journeyintodesign.wordpress.com/2011/11
Monthly Archives: November 2011. In which my printing press turns two! November 17, 2011. It’s official it’s holiday season here in NYC. No matter how much I want to believe it’s still October, we’ve already had snow, the Macy’s windows are out in full force, and I’m having spontaneous cravings for mulled wine. Last year, I created two holiday designs for my Etsy store, which you can see below:. 4 by 6 inch cards with envelopes (happened to have a lot of these envelopes on-hand already). Having settled o...

Monthly Archives: May 2011. May 29, 2011. My dad and I are so alike sometimes, it’s scary. I inherited his gleefully corny sense of humor, and the shoulder-shaking laugh to go with it. I also got his pale complexion and dark hair, and his propensity to dance regardless of talent (which I love). Dad polishing his shoes. I began to make a list. So Tools… that’s a “dad” thing. But my dad isn’t the handiest of handymen. I moved on. I liked the idea of using ties to form words. So this happened:. More confusi...

Mother’s Day for Ducklings | Journey Into Design

Mother’s Day for Ducklings. May 7, 2011. My mother is a huge inspiration to me. Our house was always full of art and craft supplies; she would sew us little books for us to color and write in, show us how to watercolor paint, create collages with patterned paper. I grew up making art of all kinds, and it’s thanks to her incredible creativity. With Mother’s Day around the corner, I decided it was time to expand my line of cards over at Moxie Press. I started sketching away. The next one I actually liked, ...

Monthly Archives: October 2011. My Journey Continues, With Cookies Along for the Ride. October 20, 2011. Apologies for a long silence, which encompassed travels to multiple weddings, the start of a new job, and the beginning of a year-long design course (woohoo! But enough of that. On to our latest installment. In Miami, it was the beautiful vibrant pink of cheese-and-guava pastries, and in Mississippi, the soft, syrupy warmth of spiced bread pudding. This is where the design came in: I love travel plann...

God Life. Med school. God, you’re it! May 27, 2015. May 27, 2015. 8220;And he said unto me, My grace is sufficient for thee: for my strength is made perfect in weakness. Most gladly therefore will I rather glory in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me.” – 2 Corinthians 12:9 KJV. What he was basically telling me was that. It was okay for me to fail in myself – meaning to fail in my own strength, in my own knowledge, in my own abilities. Why? That was so encouraging to me! If you can h...

Journey Into Design
Book covers and, oh yeah, what’s inside of them. (Part I). February 7, 2012. Ever since I learned to read, libraries have been my happy place. Bookstores place a close second, but at bookstores, you have to pay money to take the books home with you. Not the case at the public library, my friend. No, those books don’t cost a thing to borrow! As a kid this was a magical concept to me, and I would take literal stacks of books home in the summers to enable my fantastical mental vacations. Nerdy? Wake Up, Sir!

One's journey to search, experience and connect through food. Hi-Collar’s Pork Katsu Sandwich. July 1, 2014. So on my journey to find some more interesting eats in the East Village I heard about a place that does an interesting Katsu sandwich. Now Katsu is something that I love like many but this place really caught my eye when I saw a picture; seriously, all I was asking at the time was “is that white bread that’s been neatly cut? MY JOURNEY INTO ELDER CARE
MY JOURNEY INTO ELDER CARE. Wednesday, July 7, 2010. Living with a Stranger. It has been a whirlwind of a month. We have been so busy showing our first facility and have received wonderful feedback. I feel blessed to have met such wonderful families and be a part of their journey in what is often a tough and difficult decision to place an elderly loved one into an assisted living home. I have learned so much and continue to on a daily basis. Can you say 'national crisis' if we don't do something soon?
