https://kaylapotter.wordpress.com/collectibles
And so the adventure continues…. A whole bunch of the strange/odd/cute/funny/interesting/random/confusing things I come across and may not understand as an outsider looking in and/or things that strike me as uniquely Japanese or that just make me laugh so I take a picture! Japanese political advertising. Look at how neat and orderly it all is……. Why, yes, that is a ‘Thomas the Train Engine’ Train Engine! 8216;I’m fascinated with the delicious food’…….Me, too, Japan. Me, too. This is for Dalton Royal.

And so the adventure continues…. August 30, 2013. How to Make Something Scary Not So Scary. One of the things I love about Japan is its willingness to indulge in all things cute. If you can find a way to turn it into a cartoon character, then you SHOULD. Doesn’t matter what it is. And what could be more terrifying and in need of a nice, healthy dose of cute? Massive Nankai Trough tsunamis, that’s what. Which is where these guys come in. Introducing Kochi Prefecture’s Emergency Preparedness Team! Back to ...

And so the adventure continues…. September 20, 2013. 安芸市音楽祭 – Aki City Ongakusai (September 8, 2013). Had another one of those random, unexpected experiences again this weekend. I played in another taishogoto concert. Only this one was in Aki. Rehearsal went well, and before I knew it, we were meeting together at Shimin Kaikan Hall (Citizens’ Assembly Hall) and loading in instruments and cables and monitors! In total, 11 different groups performed throughout the day! Leave a Reply Cancel reply. You are c...

And so the adventure continues…. September 2, 2013. Kochi loves its Kyara! That last post was fun, so I thought I’d do a few more introducing some of Kochi’s other. Short for ‘character’), or cartoon mascots. Let’s start with some of Aki’s very own, shall we? As you can see, her head is a nice big bowl of. So, here they are! She’s a seagull because her station overlooks the Pacific Ocean. Utako-chan was created in honor of Ryutaro Hirota, a composer from Aki who wrote many famous children’s songs. WeR...

I've been working on my friend Holly's. Wedding invites this week. They've been really fun to do, mostly because the only direction I was given was 1) they wanted a drawing of them and 2) they wanted it in my handwriting. Sounds great to me. I wanted the invites to look like they had been torn from a page in my sketchbook. I feel like I've been waiting for a project like this to come around for awhile. This time comes but once a year, yes m'dears, it's time for my year-end lists. You could. The Octopus P...

And so the adventure continues…. October 11, 2013. Back to the Valley – Rafting on the Yoshino River (August 29, 2013). We loved Iya Valley so much, we knew we just had to go back! And we only waited two weeks to do so! Only this trip would have a whole lot less of the bridge crossing, mountain climbing, and backwoods driving, and a whole lot more of the life-jacket wearing, river jumping, and onsen going. We went rafting down the Yoshino River! Shikoku has some of the most beautiful rivers I’ve ev...

Monday, October 12, 2009. Risk and the Third Sector. This weeks readings discussed the third sector and also risk, and the issues that come with it. I found the two most important points were the huge amount of consideration that must be given to a percieved risk based on research and experience. The changes in power and significance from large organisations and the government to the thrid sector was also an important point. Monday, September 21, 2009. A Typical Public Relations Plan.
