the z life: Photography nitty gritty #8: White balance
http://zarafa99.blogspot.com/2008/07/photography-nitty-gritty-8-white.html
A buckeye moves to texas. by way of five or six other states. Wednesday, July 30, 2008. Photography nitty gritty #8: White balance. No you aren't crazy, I did skip #7 and went right to #8. That's because my plan was to write up some type of really brilliant post where we learn to combine what we learned in the previous lessons to get perfect exposure. But I don't have any sample pictures that I am willing to post yet, and its way to hot out right now for me to wander around in search of some. Ok, some cl...

Clara + Food = Love: Cafe Bonaparte (Washington, DC)
http://claralovesfood.blogspot.com/2009/10/cafe-bonaparte-washington.html
Thursday, October 22, 2009. Cafe Bonaparte (Washington, DC). I got an awesome deal to Café Bonaparte. A cute little Parisian place in Georgetown that's known for its crepes. R. and I love crepes, so this really was the perfect place to dine out for us! For dinner, R. got the Petersburg, with "black forest ham, shallots, parsley and mushroom topped with a dijon mustard cream sauce." What a great combination of ingredients! It was beyond delicious! It's "Nutella chocolate, strawberries [warm, I must add], ...

Sam Cooks: Tomato Snobbery
http://samcooks.blogspot.com/2009/08/tomato-snobbery.html
Cooking * Baking * Eating * Drinking. Would writing about a restaurant visit during which I took no pictures be totally lame? Friday, August 14, 2009. Haha, just as I posted about my lovely heirloom tomatoes, I found this article. In the Washington Post. I agree, though. Just because it's an heirloom tomato doesn't mean it's going to be good. I also don't want to pay exorbitant prices for the ones at the grocery store, especially since I don't even know where they're coming from. View my complete profile.

A buckeye moves to texas. by way of five or six other states. Tuesday, July 14, 2009. Wow, its been a long time since I posted here. Yikes! Its been a busy couple months with graduation and work and traveling and dogs and blah blah blah. http://zarafa99.blogspot.com/2008/06/photography-nitty-gritty-exposure.html
A buckeye moves to texas. by way of five or six other states. Thursday, June 19, 2008. Photography nitty gritty #2: Exposure. Let's talk about light. Why? Because I said so. Well, that and because its kind of crucial to the whole photography thing. In fact, its pretty much all photography is when you get down to the most basic concept of it. A picture is a recording of whatever light you let into the camera. the amount of light recorded is controlled by the combination of 3 different. But back to light a...

Clara + Food = Love: September 2009
http://claralovesfood.blogspot.com/2009_09_01_archive.html
Monday, September 28, 2009. I found this Martha Stewart recipe. While browsing through Yahoo! Foods, and it turned out quite well. This recipe is the kind that is so easy to modify without messing up. Try it with carrots, water chestnuts, chopped celery, asparagus, portabello mushrooms, you name it! Instead of wrapping it with lettuce, try serving the chicken with jasmine rice. For a spicier taste, add hot pepper sauce. Here is the recipe:. Coarse salt and ground pepper. 2 tablespoons olive oil. Reduce h...

Sam Cooks: Pho: The Magical Cure
http://samcooks.blogspot.com/2009/08/pho-magical-cure.html
Cooking * Baking * Eating * Drinking. Would writing about a restaurant visit during which I took no pictures be totally lame? Sunday, August 16, 2009. Pho: The Magical Cure. Somehow I managed to get a cold in the middle of summer. In fact, I got sick during the hottest week of summer thus far. It just feels wrong to be sick this time of year, and the cold I've had has been one of the worst in a while. So yesterday I decided I needed a cure in the form of pho. Seriously, use the Pho Finder. Cooking * Baking * Eating * Drinking. Would writing about a restaurant visit during which I took no pictures be totally lame? Wednesday, July 15, 2009. Mediterranean Foods Imports, 2647 N. High St. I happened to have a giant can of chickpeas, so since I bought olive oil and tahini, I made my own hummus when I got home. I added garlic, lemon juice, and a bunch of fresh basil from our garden, and it was very yummy :-). I've recently noticed that there's a small Indonesian store. Links to this post. Now tha...

the z life: Photography nitty gritty #4: Aperture Part II
http://zarafa99.blogspot.com/2008/06/photography-nitty-gritty-4-aperture.html
A buckeye moves to texas. by way of five or six other states. Wednesday, June 25, 2008. Photography nitty gritty #4: Aperture Part II. So we ended last time saying that you can't just run around changing your aperture willy-nilly. Well, I mean, you can. its your camera, you can do whatever the heck you want. but if you're going for a certain look, you can't. Why not? Because, aperture controls the "depth-of-field" in a photograph, and along with that, the bokeh. Not making any sense? How about a visual?
