Dave Barker and Steve Farnan are riding Lands End to John O'Groats in June 2011! Our Just Giving Page. Wednesday, 29 June 2011. Day 11 and 12. Arran to Glencoe 100 miles! We are double centurions now, yeaaahhhhhh). A hundred miles of pure joy and many mixed emotions. Fantastic cycling, long sweeping hills, plenty of turns, lochs, sunshine all day. Got tired by end of it, but we had been going for 10 hours. nearly broken. Equal on hardeness scale as day two though cornwall. Glencoe to Loch Ness - 58 miles.

LEJOG Blog: September 2010

http://lejog-blog.blogspot.com/2010_09_01_archive.html

The Bike / Kit. Wednesday, 29 September 2010. Itchy feet. That's how it started. A feeling that it was about time that I got out and did something a bit more fulfilling and demanding than the odd game of 5-a-side. Something that I could look back on with a sense of achievement when I'm old and grey. This would need planning, lots of training and at least one willing. So that's how this whole thing got started. Having come across various Lejog/Jogle blogs and found them helpful and insightful training...

LEJOG Blog: March 2011

http://lejog-blog.blogspot.com/2011_03_01_archive.html

The Bike / Kit. Monday, 28 March 2011. My first 'back-to-back' weekend. As the more observant among you may have realised, my promise of on-the-road updates over the weekend failed to materialise. I did try, but it must have got lost somewhere in the technosphere. I'm planning on updating via my phone on the trip itself, so I'll need to iron these issues out sooner rather than later. I also get paid this week, which will enable me to purchase the rest of the kit I'll need. My only quandary is my choi...

LEJOG Blog: September 2011

http://lejog-blog.blogspot.com/2011_09_01_archive.html

The Bike / Kit. Wednesday, 14 September 2011. It is rather sheepishly that I return to this blog, having not posted a single word since before the beginning of our trip, over two and a half months ago. I realise that there were a dedicated few who checked the blog regularly for updates throughout the two weeks of the trip, so many apologies for keeping you in the dark! I suppose I should first confirm that WE DID IT! So I've decided to let some of our photos tell the story. Day 2 - Up and over Dartmoor.

https://martinslejog.wordpress.com/my-route

Lands End to John O'Groats June 2011. Just another WordPress.com site. My Route (If you like maps). There are a lot of resources on the web to help plan a LEJOG trip but in my opinion the best by far is http:/ www.pewseys.co.uk/. I am using sat nav routes downloaded from the site and have used the stop over points to help me find accommodation. On June 12, 2011 at 7:57 pm. What date do you go Martin? Looks like your doing similar route to us and similar dates too! On June 12, 2011 at 9:19 pm. Build a web...

LEJOG Blog: October 2010

http://lejog-blog.blogspot.com/2010_10_01_archive.html

The Bike / Kit. Monday, 4 October 2010. When I was researching the trip I had a few questions that seemed particularly difficult to answer, namely:. 1) What type of bike should I be using? 2) How much money should I be spending? 3) What other kit will I need? Disclaimer: Given that I'm only a month or so into this process, I'm hardly an expert. The best thing I did was to phone up a bike shop and ask the experts! But here's how I went about answering these questions. 3) What other kit will I need? Much b...

LEJOG Blog: January 2014

http://lejog-blog.blogspot.com/2014_01_01_archive.html

The Bike / Kit. Wednesday, 15 January 2014. New challenge: new blog! Time for a long-overdue update! As I alluded to in my last post, the experience of training for and then completing LEJOG rekindled my interest in mountain biking. Mountain biking was my first proper introduction to cycling of any sort, and provided me with many happy days spent building and riding trails with friends. I hope you'll join me there! Thanks again, and happy riding. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). New challenge: new blog!

LEJOG Blog: May 2011

http://lejog-blog.blogspot.com/2011_05_01_archive.html

The Bike / Kit. Monday, 16 May 2011. Training Weekend - Day 3: Slow and Steady. We got up on the third day of our trip feeling a little exhausted. This would be the first time I'd ridden 3 days in a row and my legs were screaming in protest after the heroics of the previous day! But we set off in decent time and stopped in Keswick for a hearty Greggs breakfast, which gave us the kick-start we needed. A photo op can be a great excuse for a break on a tough climb. Here's the stats for the day:. Ever since ...

LEJOG Blog: April 2011

http://lejog-blog.blogspot.com/2011_04_01_archive.html

The Bike / Kit. Wednesday, 27 April 2011. Ever since we agreed to do our LEJOG, the plan has always been to meet up for a long weekend's training, the idea being that it would allow us to get used to cycling together, staying in hostels, riding with panniers etc, and give us an indication of how our individual fitness levels were coming along. I'm hoping to be able to update the blog at the end of each day, so I'll try and keep you posted on our progress. Friday, 22 April 2011. Just arrived in Brodick.

Monday, 4 July 2011. Day 10: Golspie to John O Groats. DT - Awesome end to the trip. Woke up feeling tired but my bike legs were back and we set off like the clappers. Although we were aware there were some hills today, we weren't quite expecting the amount of climbing we had today. Helmsdale in particular has a couple of very long 13pc climbs that go on for about 4 miles. The almost 50 mph descent was exhilarating though! Sunday, 3 July 2011. Day 9 Kingussie - Golspie. May I lie down upon my back. AK - ...

LEJOGGLER | Can they do it? YES THEY CAN!

Can they do it? And so that is it. Sam, Alex, Anouska, Emma, Dave M and Dave W have all successfully completed the challenge and cycled from Lands End to John O’Groats. After 13 days, 1000 miles, lots of sandwiches and even more beer they finally cycled into John O’Groats at 5.04pm on 6th August. I must confess that I had my doubts before they started that each and every single one of them would cycle each and every mile but they did – and I know I and many others are blown away by the achievement. Skip to main content. Skip to primary sidebar. Skip to secondary sidebar. Cycling 1000 miles in 9 days. We’re off…. Tomorrow. Our gear is all on the van, which is already on its way southward. We’re following it down tomorrow – flying down to Exeter, then a minibus to Land’s End for an overnight stop before we start pedalling the just-shy of 1000 miles on two wheels. I think I’ve put in enough training, and certainly I’ve not been this fit for over a decade, so maybe I shouldn’t worry o...8211; cycle&#46...

LE-JOG ON Jonny and Brooksy

LE-JOG ON Jonny and Brooksy. Thursday, 21 April 2011. Day Twelve - The final countdown. We were rudely awoken by the 04:35 train to Glasgow. The resultant vibrations and plate rattling woke us all up. Who on earth catches trains that early anyway? Our journey was only 30 minutes old when we stopped in a lay-by to do another radio interview, this time for BBC Radio Derby. But, as luck would have it I glanced, literally, across the road to see a bike shop. With the effort of simply crossing a road requ...

Where's that tortoise taking me now (mornin sheep). April 30, 2010. Houston the tortoise has lift of. The start of LeJog at lands end britains most south westerly point, for 3pm the place was near deserted, (i think the wind speed had something to do with it). Lands end to Penzance (April 12th). April 29, 2010. 11 miles, windy with clouds and sun, dry. I suspect for the benefit of tourists there is the rumour of a man eating squid around lands end, this conjured up visions of people turning up in frog ma...
