Nonadventures of a broken foot. How Joan Came To Be. Joan lives on…. January 28, 2010. Was in September, just as I was learning to let my crutches go and walk with a boot (walking-cast). I used the crutches for a while still, because I was supposed to gradually increase pressure. It was good timing since classes for my senior year were starting. Committed to working out regularly and hard – and followed through. While i...

Tomorrow I will wear a shoe on my left foot for the first time in 113 days. I have an appointment to pick up my custom orthotics, which I will have to wear in my shoes for the next 6-12 months. Tomorrow begins the process of weaning from the boot, which sounds like, “Great! 8221;, but I think this is actually where the real work begins. But for now, I just want to focus on the fact that while I may only tolerate wearing it for a few minutes, ding dang it, tomorrow,I am going to wear a shoe! Foot Educatio...
