Loaves and Ladles: August 2010
http://loavesandladles.blogspot.com/2010_08_01_archive.html
Celebrating food every day. Tuesday, August 31, 2010. Sweet Dough with Richard Bertinet - Video Link. So I was on my favorite baking site - the place where I've learned most everything I know about baking - The Fresh Loaf and I saw this off chance post about this French Pastry Chef, Richard Bertinet. I clicked the link to watch his video on how he made sweet dough and it just blew my mind. Check out the link below from Gourmet.com and just watch this guy work this dough. Magical! I can't wait to try it.
Loaves and Ladles: February 2011
http://loavesandladles.blogspot.com/2011_02_01_archive.html
Celebrating food every day. Saturday, February 19, 2011. Buttery, soft and off the charts with garlic! A few weeks back, I made some yummy Marinara and wanted to add something special on the side. Tired of garlic bread, ciabatta's and the like, I wanted something unusual. This roll recipe was that, and MORE! Don't let the garlic amounts throw you. I was skeptical at first, but decided to go for it. So glad I did! Who doesn't like garlic? 6 tablespoons unsalted butter, divided. 1 teaspoon table salt.

Celebrating food every day. Thursday, December 27, 2012. I'm a new convert! OK, I admit, I have never been a big fan of Brussel Sprouts. As a matter of fact, not long ago, a wonderful neighbor offered me a whole stock and I refused them because they are. well, Brussel Sprouts. The smell, they stink and they taste like tiny heads of cabbage, which is just off-putting to my nose. 1 1/2 lbs Brussel Sprouts. 3 TBS Olive Oil. Preheat your oven to 400 degrees. Clean sprouts by cutting off the dry stem and ...

Celebrating food every day. Thursday, January 27, 2011. Wonder Bread - Japanese Style! 65279;. The perfect children. grrr. 65279; When I was little, we took our trusty sandwiches to school each day. The only day we had "Hot Lunch" was when there were hot rolls or pizza. My Mother always thought that a peanut butter sandwich (my favorite, btw! Back in the early 60's, Wonder Bread was probably the fanciest store bought bread you could find, and kids LOVED it! In Japan and other parts of Asia, bread is ...
Loaves and Ladles: Yorkshire Pudding - ala Dame Edna!
http://loavesandladles.blogspot.com/2012/12/yorkshire-pudding-ala-dame-edna_27.html
Celebrating food every day. Thursday, December 27, 2012. Yorkshire Pudding - ala Dame Edna! Egg and flour and milk taste good. When made into a Yorkshire pud. My husband loves these with a roast beef. I use the drippings of the roast, but you could also use bacon drippings or even plain vegetable oil. This recipe came from my Mother in Law, Edna - or Dame Edna as we like to call her. She is not well known for her "culinary" expertise, but when it comes to making traditional English recipes, there is ...

Skip to main content. Skip to primary sidebar. Skip to secondary sidebar. Adventures in baking and crafting. Last night, I heard from our backyard the first spring peeper peeping. He sounded a little slow and lonely with no one answering him, but he made me feel hopeful. Signs of spring are popping up and this long winter will soon be behind us. Naturally, I started with the last quilt that I organized, way back in October! I didn’t have time to quilt it this week, but I hope to get to it in April ...

A Place to Scribble Random Thoughts and Scrapbook. Saturday, November 1, 2008. A Good Season for Missions. Has some encouraging words for missions minded people. The worst of all times is the best of all times for missions. During an economic downturn we are more dependent on God. That is the most fertile soil for creating missionaries.
