the common milkweed: Home for Many
http://thecommonmilkweed.blogspot.com/2015/08/home-for-many.html
Saturday, August 1, 2015. We are just marveling this summer at the life that now calls this land their home. By getting rid of most of the lawn grass and planting native plants we've completely transformed this place into one of incredible biodiversity and beauty. Remember what we started with? Here are a few notables of late:. Prairie Rose growing in old field now that it's not mowed:. Monarch nectaring on Wild Bergamot:. Bronze Copper and Honeybee nectaring on Culver's Root:. http://naturalgardening.blogspot.com/2015/08/a-welcome-bit-of-rain-and-tree-frogs.html
Observations on nature and gardening. Monday, August 10, 2015. A welcome bit of rain and tree frogs. Thunderstorms passed through this afternoon and evening, bringing some welcome moisture. It's been continually dry for weeks now, warm (and hot) sunny days in succession. Fortunately, my perennials are pretty tough, but still, the Joe-Pye and Phlox need water after a week and half of heat and no rain. Not to mention the veggies! Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). It’s so rewarding seeing those tiny seeds sprout up and take form, but when you start too early and they do so well it means lots of potting-up. They can’t live in those little seed-starter 6-packs forever. This means lots of time, pots, soil and space. Most of the plants a...
