To no-ones surprise the Spencer School Board voted unanimously for a merger with Candor. There will be a straw vote on the merger issue on Dec. 3 in both the Candor and S-VE districts. If the straw vote gets a majority, then the final vote will take place on February 6, 2014. They told me ten years ago that the surplus space there would be rented out at a profit. The same people who have been unable to rent a square foot after trying for ten years, are now supposed to know how to sell a school!

WE HAVE ROOM FOR 2500 STUDENTS, WE HAVE 960. WHY IS THE MERGER CROWD PLANNING MORE NEW BUILDINGS? The school board spent a lot of taxpayer money to distribute misinformation to the public before the 2001-building vote. As they sent out half a dozen campaign brochures, I do not have space to address it all, so couple of extracts from the first paragraph the May 2001 brochure must suffice. In the S-VE buildings we already have space to house the addition of every Candor student. BACK TO HOME PAGE.

THE CANDOR SCHOOL BOARD VOTES TO GO AHEAD WITH MERGER WITH S-VE! The Candor school board voted on September 19, to go forward with the merger with S-VE. The next step after both School Boards have voted for the merger is the straw poll vote. Candor set their vote at Dec 3rd. This will be the first opportunity for the voters to stop this nonsense. If either of the communities vote against it, it should be over. But with S-VEs record of ignoring the laws, perhaps not.

In his 2013 campaign letter for the budget vote, the superintendent starts off with the claim that the state aid has been reduced by 5.1 million dollars since 2010-2011. (See above.)
