on the needle

Saturday, 23 January 2010. Moving on with cutouts. If you take the cut-out shape, here with parts of the actual motif removed to give a more complex shape, and draw it randomly into a more regular shape (shown here into a square, rectangle and circle) you can throw up other combinations of the motif. Also the negatives spaces between the motifs also create new shapes, all these could be used together as they are all 'related'. Thursday, 21 January 2010. More play with cutouts. on the needle: June 2008

http://ontheneedle.blogspot.com/2008_06_01_archive.html

Monday, 23 June 2008. I have started to look at the colours more closely, and am just starting out with thread wrappings and colour matching swatches (ahead of myself as I'm not yet completely finished with Mod 1). I started with a striped colour swatch, which was OK- ish but then Jen suggested that I knit the sample using short rows to imitate the more organic lines in the wood. a great improvement! Made in Fleece Artist Baby kid mohair, bought from Get Knitted in Bristol. Thursday, 5 June 2008. I reall...

on the needle: clasped weft

http://ontheneedle.blogspot.com/2010/01/clasped-weft.html

Tuesday, 5 January 2010. I have been playing about with the clasped weft technique, using my knitter's loom. I, with the most marvellous's help, warped the loom by putting a separate length and colour into each slot along the length of the 12" loom, and then put pink on one side and blue on the other through the slots. I used 4 pinks and rotated them, and 4 blues and rotated them as well. I think it looks very appealing! Must get the current project off my loom and experiment a little more! We thought we...

Monday, 18 August 2008. Pictures and blogger.grrrr. After a terrible tussle with blogger I let him. must be a HIM. put them where he wanted to. so sorry for the rather messy look to the previous post. Whilst she was here I also used her to model something I had intended for myself. As you can see she did sterling work, and only cost the price of a roast dinner! Oh and the shawl,. it went home with her as she doesn't find the wool at all itchy. Thank you Claire. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom).

on the needle: July 2008

http://ontheneedle.blogspot.com/2008_07_01_archive.html

Thursday, 31 July 2008. This is not work for mod 1.which is what I should be doing! But a 'play' using some of the colours identified in the artwork and colour wraps for 'The Fence' and a pattern found in my Mod 1 work. so what is it? Of course it's a scarf, or rather it may be if I continue with it. I haven't used all the colours I found but have made an 'artistic' decision. I find myself drawn again the working in three colours, striping them one row at a time. I find it fascinating how the colours...

http://artofstitch.blogspot.com/2012/01/padding.html

Open College of the Arts. Tuesday, 31 January 2012. Lil Pixie left a comment here. Asking what padding was. According to Wikpedia. Is thin cushioned material sometimes added to clothes. It is often done in an attempt to soften impacts on certain zones of the body or enhance appearance by 'improving' a physical feature. Hope this has been of help. We, in the U.S., call it batting. Hope this helps! 9 October 2012 at 09:19. I really like that quote! I hope you have a good 2014,. 23 January 2014 at 18:06.

Open College of the Arts. Saturday, 6 November 2010. Thanks to everyone who left a comment on my last post the kind thoughts where very much appreciated at what has been a very difficult time for me. My brother and I laid my Mum to rest with my Dad on Thursday. I know in my head that she is out of pain and at rest but there is such a large hole left in my life. I don't have the enthusiasm to get back to my studies just yet but I know Mum wouldn't want me to give up on them. 8 November 2010 at 01:19.

Saturday, July 25, 2009. Just a Quickie :). Just a quick post to let everyone know that I have updated the sidebar section and added links to a bunch of new blogs. You can see them if you scroll all the way down. In addition to the usual knitting blogs, I've added several sewing and quilting blogs that I think you will find inspiring as well - even if you don't sew or quilt. The colorful photos alone are worth a look! Did you know that I also read History blogs? Labels: life the universe and everything.
