A couple of weeks ago I received an email from Bernard and Eric about our sound team wanting to realign our speakers to accommodate our congregation better and that in order to recalibrate the system they needed a quiet auditorium. When I read that, I thought to myself, What a perfect analogy for my upcoming sabbatical! I will officially be on sabbatical after May 26 and my first Sunday back will be August 11. What will I be doing? A deeper understanding of God’s grace and love (Pray Ephesians 3:14-19).

Thursday, November 3, 2011. Reflections on our trip. Today (November 3), I'm beginning to feel like a human being again! The sense of being physically disoriented and exhausted that accompanies jet lag is slowly beginning to subside. So without further adieu, and while impressions from our trip to Italy and Greece are still fresh, I want to reflect a moment on the experience Joani and I shared over the last two weeks. 1) The System worked. 2) People are fascinating. 4) Downtime is good for the soul.
