brij@poachedcreative: Postscript

http://poachedbrij.blogspot.com/2010/02/postscript.html

Sunday, 21 February 2010. The great thing about being with Poached Creative was not only did I eventually manage to find a job, but I found greater belief and confidence in myself to find a job that I have always dreamt of doing. I walked into Poached, after spending almost a year of sending endless and unsuccessful job applications to various organisations. Before this, I was at University. I honestly think if it hadn’t been for Poached, I probably wouldn't have even bothered looking for a job in ...

brij@poachedcreative: A very busy week

http://poachedbrij.blogspot.com/2009/06/very-busy-week.html

Thursday, 18 June 2009. A very busy week. Being a patron for the art of cartoons and animation (see profile), I have decided that for each week of blogging, I will choose a well-known cartoon character that best represents my weekly activities, and persona. So for this week – the colourful character who best represents me is the Road Runner. On reflection, I am finding it to be an interesting and somewhat new experience. Almost as if I am seeing the real ‘working’ world in its full glory. We were require...

brij@poachedcreative: A new beginning

http://poachedbrij.blogspot.com/2009/06/new-beginning.html

Tuesday, 9 June 2009. Six weeks with Poached Creative. I wasn’t too sure what to expect, six weeks with Poached Creative, working to improve my creative writing and gain some experience of the working environment. Well… whatever would come out of it, it would sure beat the unproductive days gazing at the “hypnotic box” or endless job applications being sent at the career development course, which I was also attending. So what was my reason for being here, at Poached? What should I expect from it? I came ...

brij@poachedcreative: June 2009

http://poachedbrij.blogspot.com/2009_06_01_archive.html

Thursday, 25 June 2009. 4th Week at Poached. It is now my 4. Week at Poached Creative. Again this past week has been really busy, with the various work activities I am undertaking (see last week’s blog). In terms of workload, it’s been just as busy and demanding, though I now feel a little more accustomed to the new routine. I’m meeting new people all the time and being presented with different circumstances that I wouldn’t have faced before. However, what will be my reward for doing all of this? As I am...

angela@poachedcreative: Precious time

http://poachedangela.blogspot.com/2009/05/precious-time.html

Monday, 25 May 2009. We're 6 weeks in and so much has happened in that short space of time. Jeevan has had a baby.and I'm the proud mother of a bouncing baby laptop! I have a PC at home but it's over 3 years old now, which is positively geriatric in computer terms. The laptop's very pretty and girly - from the metallic rose finish to the Swarovski crystals on the lid. I don't go in for bling that much but the laptop itself has a great spec, so why not? I know 10.45pm isn't the best time to start work...

angela@poachedcreative: To be or not to be ... self-employed?

http://poachedangela.blogspot.com/2009/05/to-be-or-not-to-be-self-employed.html

Wednesday, 27 May 2009. To be or not to be . self-employed? I feel as though I'm working full-time at the moment. If I haven't got stuff to do for Poached, then I'm collating information. For a music archive website, or I'm preparing items to include in a radio show. Things are getting busy. What worries me is how I can make a steady living out of writing. I know cash flow won't be consistent. I have rent and bills to pay, and if I come off benefits, suddenly there's no safety net. To have a chat about m...

chris@poachedcreative: September 2009

http://poachedchris.blogspot.com/2009_09_01_archive.html

Monday, 28 September 2009. Now I’m sure I got it right. With my second week at What’s Up Information. Just like my Poached days, I’m learning some completely new skills every day. And, just like at Poached, they are useful, transferable skills. Just yesterday I found myself posting event news on Twitter. And replicating the post on a blog and on Facebook with the touch of a button. In addition, I discovered the immense benefit of TinyURL. When trying to stick to Twitter’s 140 character limit. Is a websit...

chris@poachedcreative: August 2009

http://poachedchris.blogspot.com/2009_08_01_archive.html

Thursday, 27 August 2009. Some good things must end. Anything you can do. Better late than never. This, along with the driver’s unwillingness to follow his sat-nav’s instructions, meant I was a little bit late arriving today. I still managed to complete some work for the Poached website, and in the afternoon have a meeting with Jess. Goodbye – at least for now. A job well done. Overall, it’s been a rewarding, valuable, and pleasurable experience. When I reflect on the last 12 weeks, I can safel...Althoug...

angela@poachedcreative: October 2009

http://poachedangela.blogspot.com/2009_10_01_archive.html

Thursday, 1 October 2009. So long, farewell, auf wiedersehen, goodbye. Today I finally got my certificate for completing the twelve-week Poached Creative Writing and Communications training programme. Today is also my very last day (at least for now) with Poached Creative. Chris Warburton is currently loving his work experience for What's Up Information (read his blog. And(drumroll please). I got the voluntary position with Save the Children! Will they like me? Will I somehow find a way to screw this up ...

chris@poachedcreative: Double figures

http://poachedchris.blogspot.com/2009/08/double-figures.html

Thursday, 13 August 2009. I have been at Poached for ten weeks now, and I have learnt a quite startling amount. I forget that sometimes. That’s why it’s important to take stock every so often. Otherwise, I lose track of the progress I’ve made, and don’t appreciate my achievements in the way I should. A bit of perspective is needed. For instance, right now I’m worried the Camden Calling. Not just filling time. My latest new skill. The first thing that struck me about the site was how ridiculously easy it ...

angela@poachedcreative: On trichotillomania

http://poachedangela.blogspot.com/2009/08/on-trichotillomania.html

Wednesday, 5 August 2009. Have a brief guide as to what it is. Although the NHS has a section on Obsessive Compulsive Behaviour. Trich exists on the spectrum of OCD), there isn't anything specific on trich. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). chris@poachedcreative: The payoff

http://poachedchris.blogspot.com/2009/08/payoff.html

Thursday, 6 August 2009. Often, I agree to an assignment, start work on it, and then find myself asking ‘why did I agree to this? 8217; The NHS Jobs. Website task from last week is one such example. However, the feedback given to me today on completion of an interview and accompanying story for the site made me realise exactly why I agreed to it. There may be hope! My frustration at the lack of colour, life, and general merriment in the Camden Calling. Plenty more to do. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom).

Thursday, 8 October 2009. Trying to be cool. I’ve been doing quite a bit of thinking about the What’s Up. Target audience recently. Specifically, I’ve been considering how fickle, unpredictable, and difficult to read they are. Back in the day. Breaking the mould. or at least distorting it slightly. Occasionally in my school life however, for some seemingly bizarre reason, an exception to the rule would occur. Without prior warning, a new product. Place, band, or item of clothing would suddenly become reg...
