Canuck Quilter: Checkerboard border
http://www.canuckquilter.com/2015/07/checkerboard-border.html
Monday, July 27, 2015. It seemed like a good idea, then not so much, then good again, then I ground my teeth. I think it was worth it. The blue is a bit washed out from the camera flash, but that’s what I get at 9:30pm! I thought my airplane quilt needed a little something more. A checkerboard border to echo the nine-patch alternate blocks sounded just right, and with strip piecing it would come together quickly. In theory. About halfway through I didn’t think this was such a good idea anymore! I love ho...

http://vroomansquilts.blogspot.com/2015/08/im-late-for-very-important-date.html
Monday, August 10, 2015. I'm Late for a Very Important Date! I managed for Slow Sunday Stitching to complete my two bindings and then I finished up a third this morning. Hopefull I can get pictures tomorrow (is it suppose to rain? Or the next day. Of course this furkid was of no help at all! My 'Let's Book It' project got a little more piecing. Just the border to do then it will be sandwiched up for a quick quilting. There was no way I was taking that away from him - those nails are brutal! August 10, 20...

VROOMANS QUILTS: April 2015
http://vroomansquilts.blogspot.com/2015_04_01_archive.html
Thursday, April 30, 2015. Well the sun will shine, it will get warmer, and the lawnmowers have been primed for the first cutting of grass. The tractors and machinery have been delivered to the crop fields which means they will be getting land in ready for planting, then the planting and soon little signs of new life will appear across the flat lands. I love the smell of new mown grass, fresh tilled soil, and new sprouting crops. I have participated with Marcia's. I will be a Hands 2 Help guest blogger on...

Canuck Quilter: Which Way North?
http://www.canuckquilter.com/2015/08/which-way-north.html
Monday, August 10, 2015. Which will shortly be winging its way north to its new owner. I can’t tell you yet how I came up with that name, but I can say that it has nothing at all to do with that little maple leaf and Canada being in the northern half of the continent. It does have to do with an oops in my quilting design, and that’s all I will say until the recipient has a stab at figuring it out! Another picture just because. And the requisite “quilt with feet” shot. Finally, just in case you think I ac...

Canuck Quilter: March 2015
http://www.canuckquilter.com/2015_03_01_archive.html
Tuesday, March 31, 2015. I finished all 36 blue drunkard’s path blocks. I started getting the hang of them again near the end of the stack. Now I need to figure out what to do with them. My original intention was to remake Autumn moons. Hmm This isn’t soaring. The snowflakes definitely would need to be larger. Maybe Snowflake 3, version 2. After that ho-hum reaction to what I threw on the wall, I scrambled up the units and came up with a few different layouts unrelated to snowflakes. We had firm intentio...

Canuck Quilter: Is my paper shrinking?
http://www.canuckquilter.com/2015/07/is-my-paper-shrinking.html
Thursday, July 16, 2015. Is my paper shrinking? OK folks, I measured before and after. Paper does indeed shrink when it is ironed. Even the fancy “paper piecing” newsprint-style paper whose manufacturers claim it won’t shrink and curl. But here’s the kicker: it seems to go back to its original size after cooling down. Today I printed the paper foundation and measured. It was exactly the size it was supposed to be. Then I ironed the paper and measured again. Ha! You can see I lined up the 1” mark on...
