Metamorphosis « PoetryBird

Another Poem o’ the Day. Woke up this morning,. Waved around my eyestalks —. Couldn’t believe my. I felt ugly and slimy. Never a hangover this bad before! I oozed to the mirror–. I was a slug. On the bright side,. Forget shaving and phoning —. Couldn’t call my boss. Lie in bed all day,. Happy in my slime. But I miss my legs and arms. Wish I were a cockroach. Too hard to open. The back door to the garden. And my big patch of cabbage. I’d looked forward to that. This entry was posted in humorous poetry.

Another Poem o’ the Day. On Not Being Pat. She entered the café. Our eyes met for three seconds past casual. She was gorgeous. 8220;Are you Pat? I studied my latte. What if I said yes? We’d talk. We’d fall in love, marry, start a family. Then a deathbed confession and plea for forgiveness–I didn’t even know Pat! 8211;but she’d have already fled the room for her lawyer. The priest would murmur, “Only God offers true forgiveness.”. 8212;——————–. Air Conditioning and Other Pleasures. Enter your comment here.

Cicadas « PoetryBird

Another Poem o’ the Day. My aunts and brothers –. Silent, while cicadas make. A horrible racket,. Reverend Hockett’s words. When something in that creek. Pulled Ray in,. A long before,. Nothing I can say to Andy. Nothing I can tell myself. Changes any thing at all. Every bottle, every flask. I could find,. Emptied down the sink. Don’t bring back. I dream we awake. Snow covers the furniture,. The windows frosted over,. Icicles glitter in the kitchen. Cold’s come early. The leaves turned from green. West o...

Another Poem o’ the Day. Newer posts →. A plop of fruit. Dropping to soft earth. Wakes me; the North Star. Glints through the window. The years since this. Between rows of propped. Apple trees, a nine-year old. First falls in love. With night’s magic. On a canvas tarp thrown down. Over the burn pile’s charcoal remains,. He tries to count all the stars,. Find Orion, the Great Bear,. Satellites, barn owl screech,. A toad plumping in the dust,. Clipping stones in the pasture –. And finally, sleep. Are torn ...

The little thoughts that tickle.the sensations waiting to let out, are transported into prose that speak of the individual's private life. Tuesday, April 21, 2009. I have been asleep again. For longer than usual. Because my virtual cocaine. Got me very sentimental. All night long I waited. For a dose of you once more. But you stood there utter intoxicated. Ignoring the pains I endure. And forever more my angry siren. Will render me defeat and regret. This love I have always sought to gain. To form up a s...

Poetry Bits 'n' Bytes

Poetry Bits 'n' Bytes. Monday, December 21, 2009. In my travels, especially those through the western United States, I've often marveled at the petroglyphs and pectoglyphs left by the ancient ones upon cliff rocks. Were they but endeavoring to leave their mark for future generations? These markings would range from simple symbols to ghost like figures. Sometimes the imprint or outline of a hand would be pecked or printed upon a rock face. Who was the author of these rock drawings? This is reprinted below:.
