Boulder C.O.P.A. Contemporary Oral Poetry Archive. Monday, December 22, 2008. The Laughing Goat Closes for Winter Solstice. The sign on the door to the Laughing Goat says the café is closed for the winter solstice. This little detail gives a clue to the culture of the cafe. Here, the pagan holiday is celebrated, not Christmas. The closure suggests the café's client base of hippies are in tune with cosmic, celestial events. Monday, December 22, 2008. Boulder C.O.P.A.: Physical Details

http://www.poetryboulder.blogspot.com/2008/12/physical-details.html

Boulder C.O.P.A. Contemporary Oral Poetry Archive. Monday, December 22, 2008. Mumble's observation must be put in context in order for it to have more meaning for the person trying to understand what culturally influenced styles of language were characteristics of the poetry scene that night at the Laughing Goat. More than they were poetry. They sometimes were inaudible because of poor ellocuition and rarely projected their sound as well as the more dynamic, visiting poets. Monday, December 22, 2008.

Boulder C.O.P.A. Contemporary Oral Poetry Archive. Monday, December 22, 2008. Solstice Blogging, A Typically Post-Modern, Self-Conscious Examination of Blog Language. Tonight is the longest night of the year, so it's uncannily appropriate to examine how TIME affects the language used in blogging. Time's relevance to the blog is evident in stylistic elements drawn from diary entries. Have you ever kept a journal or diary as a kid and started the entry like this:. It has been soooo long since my last entry.

Boulder C.O.P.A. Contemporary Oral Poetry Archive. Friday, November 7, 2008. Cultural Context Affects "Ways of Speaking". There is a phrase in Pidgin English (Nigerian: Yoruba), that translates as "I am very glad to meet you."* This phrase, to me, sounds like poetry:. Well wen a take. It is a quality of oral poetry to be explored in this blog. 101 Languages of the World © 2002, Transparent Language, Inc. Friday, November 07, 2008. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). Manifestation, Wildness and the Artful Life. Thursday, November 26, 2009. Yes, I am working on it. None of this is really edited yet. Masala and Lamb Korma, content for now. Outside the large windows, snow blows sideways, pelting the entire little town of Nederland. There is just enough light diffusing through the thick sky that the town glows blue. Outside the Starry Night Café here in Fort Collins, I have a few hours to transform myself from a kayaking ninja into a writer. Maybe the cappuccino. Does it. Manifestation, Wildness and the Artful Life. Thursday, April 22, 2010. Food For Thought: Traveling Tea. With most of my possessions loaded in the back of my 4-Runner, even my kitchen cupboard is bare, except for a few useful items. I stow the wicker box tea set and re-organize the space. I am ever wondering how it will all fit in my truck. Committed to my tea, I have designated to it an entire drawer in a mobile cabinet in my truck. Whole chamomile flowers, dong quai. Barley, oats. Manifestation, Wildness and the Artful Life. Tuesday, February 9, 2010. I snuck in five runs today, starting just past noon, when the light was golden and the shadows where starting to lengthen and turn blue. I met a friend by chance at the lift. We found soft pillows of snow in the trees. Riding on the lift we shared the stoke. Now I'm back at the laptop writing again, sipping tea. A perfect day! Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). Manifestation, Wildness and the Artful Life. Thursday, February 4, 2010. So, winter hasn't quite lived up to my early season expectations. It's been dry and the little snowpack we have is sketchy. To archive my optimism, I've saved the below preface to the Write-Wild blog from the opening of the ski season. Poetry Boxes

Words in the fold. Friday, December 26, 2008. What's in the box? Poetry Boxes are a hybrid of origami and poetry that I invented in 2001. They're based on an 18th-century Japanese paper-art form called. Or "surprise box." Each box is made of six individual panels pre-printed with text that, when assembled, form a complete poem. The title is printed on the top; the poem is read by turning the box clockwise. It took me literally months to work out the template. What Goes On Inside a Box? A quiet, closet.
