This week was incredible, inspiring, and so much fun! I got to spend the week training all of the new teachers to our school district! Teacher truth- this was actually the very first time I've ever done any type of training outside of my local school, so I was kind of freaking out a little bit! We met on Monday morning to go over some last minute details and set up our rooms. I left out some motivating snacks for all our new teachers! These Positive Sticky Notes. Can be used for EVERYTHING! March 2015 - A Primary Owl
http://aprimaryowl.blogspot.com/2015_03_01_archive.html
My district has a pretty old language arts series, so for spelling we do word study with Greek and Latin Roots with Fry sights words for spelling words. But I wasn't satisfied at all with this one-size fits all approach to spelling. And the straw the broke the camels back a couple of weeks ago was when my grade level (3rd grade) gave the word "dog" as a spelling word! I thought there was no way I was going to let another week go by with such easy words again! I had to do something! Especially in winter w...

Reluctant Readers - A Primary Owl
http://aprimaryowl.blogspot.com/2015/06/reluctant-readers.html
I was inspired this morning by a post by my friend Tammy at The Resourceful Apple. She wrote a wonderful post about her boys and encouraging them to LOVE reading. I have two children in my house. Both are complete opposites:. This is the other:. You can see where this is headed.he never wants to read. I have to beg him. Even if it is nonfiction and on a topic like soccer that he loves, he asks "How much longer." "Am I done yet? I take them to school. It's a win-win! Have great websites to visit too!

October 2014 - A Primary Owl
http://aprimaryowl.blogspot.com/2014_10_01_archive.html
I was inspired this week by a Pinterest picture I saw. This mom has a great website called lemon lime adventures. She must be an amazing momma! She gave her kids candy pumpkins and did some STEM and science experiments. Which reminded me of something my daughter did in her 6th grade STEM class. They compared The Scientific Process with The Engineering Design Process.so bam! The idea hit me! If you would like to try it, you can get your copy here. What are your survival tactics to get through the day?

http://aprimaryowl.blogspot.com/2015/06/summer-time.html
Wowsummer is here. I have enjoyed relaxing and get myself organized! I usually spend the first week getting my house back in order, then start working on some school stuff for next year. One thing I love about summer is cooking and eating healthy. My family gets crazy busy, like everyone's, during the school year. We eat out too much, we eat junk too much. We eat late or to be frank, we eat cereal for dinner! So here's a recipe I made last week:. Picture from Creme de la Crumb. 8212; Share It —. I cant w...
