They inform, entertain, stimulate and inspire us with their words. But they're not always to hand - tucked away on a shelf or drawer just when we need to dip into them. Pictures are great too, but they're a bit one-dimensional (strictly speaking, they're two dimensional) but they give us that additional decoration that we need to bring colour and life into our rooms.
