Food reviews, new horizons, and future foodies in Oklahoma. LIVE On The Plaza. August 16, 2012. If you have been on Sixteenth Street any time in the last few years, you might think that this trendy little spot had been here a while. The buildings and shops have the feel that they are well settled, even comfortable; but just a short while ago this neighborhood was all but dead. From hooligan hang-out to hipster hub, the 16th Street Plaza at Blackwelder has a new face and a new lease on life. A great place...

Food reviews, new horizons, and future foodies in Oklahoma. Don’t call it a come back. April 23, 2013. Show of hands. Who thinks this should start back up? August 22, 2012. Two years ago something fantastic happened; Norman got (good) pho. If you don’t know about pho, now would be a good time to check out my previous lectures. While I have almost always had good luck with pho in Oklahoma City, it seemed that none of the attempts being made in Norman were working out. They offer several teas and coffees, ...

Coriander Cafe | Raising Gastronomy

Food reviews, new horizons, and future foodies in Oklahoma. August 22, 2012. Two years ago something fantastic happened; Norman got (good) pho. If you don’t know about pho, now would be a good time to check out my previous lectures. Coriander Cafe on Campus Corner is the brain child of Owner Christopher Lê and Chef Jeremiah Caldwell, and when I am working in the Norman area I now know that I can get reliably good Vietnamese fare. The menu here is simple, but well executed. The quality of the food has alw...

Rants about food and what not. O where to start on this one. I have been thinking about starting into this blog post for some time, but haven’t come up with a great and exciting intro. Like a great movie or meal, I want it to grab you from the very beginning. So here goes. Coming up with some great recipes and we are getting ready to display our work to the public. After months of lease negotiations, changing the location, revising designs, we are finally on the road to construction! Here I Come”. Said t...

Tuesday, April 28, 2015. A Long Winter and a Perfect Spring Break. After taking a long blogging break, I never know how to start again . what to begin with. Basically, it's been a looooooong winter. At times, beautiful, but still long. The gloomy, cloudy, gray days are FINALLY on their way out and we're starting to see some sunshine. I don't think I could ever survive living up north. We've enjoyed a few gorgeous sunsets from the pier in our neighborhood. Do any of you teach KINDNESS anymore? It was cold...

Raising Future Foodies

Teaching our children to love food. Tuesday, October 30, 2012. Tonight we made a spooky Halloween dinner. First we made Mummy Dogs. Start by rolling out crescent rolls and try to merge the seams back together. Then use a pizza cutter to cut strips. Wrap the strips around hot dogs and place them on a baking tray. Use a toothpick to make mustard eyes. Make these eyes pretty heavy so that they hold up in the oven. Bake at 400 for 15 minutes or until golden brown. Next I made Peanut Butter Spider Crackers.

Wednesday, November 27, 2013. I can't believe that K is 3! We celebrated his birthday all weekend long and he love every minute! On Saturday we had a birthday party at My Gym with his friends and it really turned out fantastic. The kids had a great time. Kane was able to run around and release his energy. Kane-o usually won't wear a hat but he really liked the king crown. Maybe I need to get him one for dress up. Just look at that sweet face! Cake cutting was pretty much the only thing he stopped for.

Tuesday, March 13, 2012. First and foremost, I’ve made way too many mistakes in my lifetime to have ever done anything right enough to deserve the kids that I have. My kids are x, y, and z. Fill in the blanks! But for me to even try to begin describing my children is nearly impossible. When my second baby was born, I recall sitting on the couch, wondering what I had done right to deserve the two lovely, perfect children I was given. Why didn’t I suffer a loss? Why wasn’t something wrong with them? Of cou...

Spock, this child is about to wipe out every living thing on Earth. What do you suggest we do….spank it? 8216;Cuz Law School…and Minions! Not sure if I’m failing at mommy-dom and law school and my life is completely falling apartor I’m just really really tired. Law school in general is rough. You take a couple hundred overachievers used to being at the top and they’re all pretty instantly given a healthy dose of humble pie.
