Breaking the Habit: Incredible Journeys
http://humanhabit.blogspot.com/2013/08/incredible-journeys.html
What we call human nature in actuality is human habit." - Jewel Kilcher. Monday, August 5, 2013. We all probably heard about the unfortunate loss of Sarah Burke in Jan. 2012. She was the female freestyle skiier that died from injuries resulting from a fall on the half pipe. Back in 2010, she successfully lobbied the IOC to have the superpipe event added to the Olympic Winter Games in 2014. She was a pioneer to the sport. She was just plain awesome. And she was lost so very soon. Kevin - After the Accident.

What we call human nature in actuality is human habit." - Jewel Kilcher. Wednesday, July 31, 2013. The Day Before The Dark. New year, new name, new blog post.and it only took me 7 months to get to this point! I have an addiction and now it is time to come to terms with that addiction and let it go. There've been a lot of changes and new starts for me in the last few months and each one of them has been so positive and encouraging that I'm continuing to roll with it. So, for the next month there will be m...

Breaking the Habit: March 2011
http://humanhabit.blogspot.com/2011_03_01_archive.html
What we call human nature in actuality is human habit." - Jewel Kilcher. Thursday, March 31, 2011. Note to Self: Apology. I've come to a realization. I owe myself an apology. I want to make you, friend, aware of this situation as I seek to forgive myself for my wrongdoing. So, I'm issuing this letter of apology. The girl with the finger on the pulse of everyone around her? How silly of me! So, now that I have this out of the way, I can move on. PS I forgave me. YAY! Monday, March 28, 2011. Don't get me w...

But, I will admit.it is weird to be home alone with Kolbie. It is quiet and we both miss Nate a bit. Now, if only I could get fully immersed in the clean eating, I could be in business! A Quiet Voice: April 2011
http://quiet-voice.blogspot.com/2011_04_01_archive.html
Friday, April 15, 2011. It doesn't seem to matter how long you've known someone is going to die, you're never ready. You think you've prepared yourself, but you can never prepare your heart. I know that my Dad is 87. I know that he has colon cancer. I know that he's in pain and is growing weary of living. I know in my head that he may not be around much longer, but apparently my heart does not know any of these things. Later in the afternoon my sister told me they managed to get a doctor's appointment fo...

A Quiet Voice: Tough Days
http://quiet-voice.blogspot.com/2011/09/tough-days.html
Tuesday, September 13, 2011. Lately I’ve been feeling down more often than not. It doesn’t help that I’m feeling very out of place at church, the place you expect to be uplifted, get support and understanding. We did not go through the “terrible twos” with our daughter and when I told our pediatrician, she said to me, “hold on mom, because that means you’re going to get the ‘thunderous threes’! 8221; The what? After several board meetings it became quite apparent that I had no voice on this board, I was ...

Breaking the Habit: February 2011
http://humanhabit.blogspot.com/2011_02_01_archive.html
What we call human nature in actuality is human habit." - Jewel Kilcher. Monday, February 28, 2011. Disappointment vs. Regret. You can have disappointment without regret. They are in no way mutually exclusive. I had an interesting conversation with a friend a few weeks ago in which we defined being "intrinsically happy." Webster defines the word intrinsic as " belonging to the essential nature or constitution of a thing." So, are we born with inherent happiness or sadness? Is it somehow coded in our DNA?
