Sunday, July 31, 2011. Week 31- The Book Thief. I have by no means finished. The Book Thief by Markus Zusak, but I feel I must at least leave a note about my first impression. I just read the first three pages and I am. Hooked . Completely blown away. This novel is going to be amazing.* *. Posted by The Disordered Librarian. Monday, July 25, 2011. Is probably one of the most painful books I've ever forced myself to read. From the first to the last page, I could not stand it. The only reason I recommend r...

Tuesday, September 27, 2011. Unfortunately, I must begin by saying that this was my least favorite of all the Jane Austen novels I've read thus far. It was a little too long for my taste, with really a lack of events. Granted, a novel can be lovely without a wildly detailed plot. In fact, in the afterword of the novel, the editor describes Emma. As Austen's "masterpiece." Imagine my surprise upon reading this, for I certainly did not think so, and most Austen fans I know do not list Emma. By Juliet Maril...

Sunday, November 6, 2011. Week 45- Cleopatra: A Life. A book that's not fiction! I think it's been several months since I read/wrote about anything that's not fiction. That's just what I'm into. But after reading Cleopatra's Daughter. This book was highly recommended to me, and I'm going pass that recommendation on. Anyone interested in history or feminism or both should read it. Sunday, November 20, 2011. Week 47- The Red Queen. Here's another historical fiction novel by Philippa Gregory for you folks. Sorry if you're getting tired of reviews of these. She's one of my favorite authors, and I read a lot of her books. In fact, I may be reading another one in this series very soon, so you'll just have to bear with me! But are told from the other side. Wednesday, November 9, 2011. By Emma Donoghue is one book I won't forget any time soon. Recommended to me by a good friend whose taste I trust, it wasn't on my list but I decided to read/review it anyway. Though most of the reviews I've received from others are positive, I can't decide my own opinions about the book. Posted by The Disordered Librarian. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). Saturday, August 27, 2011. Week 34- A Game of Thrones. Ok, I didn't actually finish this book in Week 34, but we're going to pretend like I did. Cut me some slack, I wrote you three reviews in Week 32. From the moment I saw the first trailer for HBO's adaptation of Game of Thrones. And get it. I'm so proud of my self-control :). The second is that, as I was warned, the book is dark and bloody. This appeals to me probably more than it should, but I understand that the tastes of others may vary from mi...

Tuesday, October 25, 2011. Week 42- The Catcher in the Rye. The Catcher in the Rye. It took a little time for this reader to adjust to Holden's voice. Some that I've spoken with say that they find him personable, real, or even adorable. But he is nasty. I found myself very resistant to him at first, and somewhat repulsed by his attitude towards humanity. Of course, at his age (late teens), who doesn't hate humanity? Wednesday, March 30, 2011. Week 13- The Thirteenth Tale. By Diane Setterfield is a novel I've been wanting to pick up and read for a very long time. I finally ordered it with my handy Amazon coupon courtesy of Groupon, and got to read a delightful novel! Margaret herself I enjoyed very very. The setting and themes are reminiscent of the novels Wuthering Heights. So do yourself a favor and read this gem of a book! Posted by The Disordered Librarian. Wednesday, March 23, 2011.
