Più di 21.000 ettari di terra sono occupati in Germania da vigneti e più del 60 % proprio dal Riesling; la maggior area produttiva è concentrata nelle aree del Rheinland-Pfalz: Mosel (Mosella), Nahe, Mittelrhein, Rheinhessen e Pfalz (Palatinato).
