Since we were coming into Yellowstone this time as tourist and not to work we decided to drive in through a gate we had never been through before. Beartooth Pass is one of the highest roads in the country and is located right outside the Northeast gate. We camped just shy of the park in the National Forest by Red Lodge, MT. The next morning was chilly but allowed for some great views. This was the start of us getting into the mountains.

Appalachian Trail Thru-hike 2013. Tuesday, January 1, 2013. Happy New Year everyone! We are still in the process of getting some companies to sponsor us. Our water filter company, Sawyer, has donated bags that go with our water filter that should get us through the entire trail. Appalachian Trail Thru-hike 2013. Tuesday, June 25, 2013. Its always sunny in Pennsylvania. As Pennsylvania comes to an end we started to look back an realize that PA was our first rain free state. So we decided to have a celebratory cigar in Port Clinton to keep the dry streak going. Sleeping Beauty got himself a new corn cob pipe. I found a cherry bomb cigar that was sweet and savory. I don't think it mattered what kind of cigar Paddy Cakes got he was just happy with life! Paddy Cakes taking in the view.

Appalachian Trail Thru-hike 2013. Monday, May 27, 2013. Slack packin with Big Papa. After our wonderful rest at the Bellfry we got back to hiking. We left around 7:30 and got on the trail at 8:30 after breakfast. It is getting hot these days so the earlier you start, the better, and with the big climb we had at the start we were happy for the cool weather at the start. Beautiful mountain laurel in bloom. Our views from the top. A panoramic of the valley below. Happy to have completed our first 30 mile day.
