The thing is," he said, "it's going to be difficult. It just is. But not impossible. And you've done a lot of things that are difficult but not impossible.". Then he kissed me and left for work. I knew what he was talking about right away. I have this little race. Difficult. Not impossible. Difficult. Not impossible. Difficult. N...

Discoveries | The Komen Experience
https://thekomenexperience.wordpress.com/2010/07/27/discoveries
The flag that I got to carry during Opening Ceremony said Discoveries on it. It was part of the “Lifetime” series, which includes Birthdays, Reunions, Weddings and so on… thing that everyone should get to participate in during their lifetime. The meaning of the flag continued on throughout the weekend, as I discovered a lot about myself and lot about those I walked with. 8221; And that kept me going. Congratulations Boston 3-Day for the Cure walkers, survivors and crew! Check out my photos on Facebook.

The Fight is Far From Over | The Komen Experience
https://thekomenexperience.wordpress.com/2010/12/05/the-fight-is-far-from-over
The Fight is Far From Over. Last week the Governor announced that they would be burying a a 375th anniversary time capsule. Filled with items that tell the story of Hartford and Connecticut in 2010. Among the items is a 2010 Race for the Cure t-shirt and the question, “Have you found a cure for cancer yet? 8221; for those who unearth it at the 400th anniversary. Who doesn’t want to see the cure found within their lifetime? At 25 years old, there’s a good chance it could happen during mine. I just recentl...

True & Real: September 2010
http://trueandreal.blogspot.com/2010_09_01_archive.html
Tuesday, September 28, 2010. Another reason why I walk. He then told me that he wanted it to be his show and tell instead of a toy. That's when I started to cry. I told my sweet boy that I was very proud of him for wanting to wear the shirt no matter what anyone else thought of him. I'm pretty sure he thought I had lost my mind since I was boo-hooing all about it, but I really don't care. So, the countdown continues:. 25 days until I'll be starting the walk- - YEEPS! 447 training miles walked thus far.

True & Real: ATL 3Day 2010!
http://trueandreal.blogspot.com/2010/11/atl-3day-2010.html
Friday, November 12, 2010. A few of my favorite things:. Day 1- Sugar Hill Elementary School (the ENTIRE school) was lined along the street cheering for the walkers. By the time I had finished high-fiving every grade schooler out there, I couldn't contain my tears. I'm glad I had on sunglasses. There was something so touching about seeing children cheering for us. I hope it made as big of an impact on their life as it did mine in that moment. It was a very humbling experience. Day 3- finally done! Closin...

True & Real: October 2009
http://trueandreal.blogspot.com/2009_10_01_archive.html
Thursday, October 29, 2009. Isn't it interesting how God can knock you back sometimes? He is the ultimate Father, and I'm so thankful! Today I was getting my little pity party on, and by the end of the day God had had enough I'm sure (can't all of us that are parents relate to this feeling? It's that moment when you're looking at your child who is complaining and whining, non-stop. And you finally have to get a little mean, but in a loving way. God showed me, very clearly, that He wanted me to. Trudged o...

True & Real: February 2010
http://trueandreal.blogspot.com/2010_02_01_archive.html
Tuesday, February 16, 2010. In honor of Mardi Gras today, I thought I'd share a recipe with you. I made this for the first time during the Superbowl and wouldn't ya know those Saints won? Anyway, here is Cajun Chicken Lasagna:. 1 package lasagna noodles (I always use the kind you don't have to cook beforehand). 1 lb andouille sausage (I couldn't find this, so I used hot sausage). 1 lb skinless, boneless chicken breast halves, cut into chunks. 2 teaspoons Cajun seasoning. 1 teaspoon dried sage. Lightly gr...

Starstruck | The Komen Experience
https://thekomenexperience.wordpress.com/2010/09/22/starstruck
I can’t believe it’s taken me this long to write this post, but here we are a week later. Last Wednesday I took the trip up to Boston for the PROMISE ME book tour. She was standing with a group of women and I awkwardly stared and walked back to my seat. After being introduced, she talked for about 20 minutes about why she wrote. During that time mammograms were available but not widely utilized; less than 20% of women had regular breast exams. Susan G. Komen for the Cure. The Fight is Far From Over →.
