World’s Largest Oil Lamp Replica. The World’s largest oil lamp replica was officially opened on July 1, 2000, as a millennium project, designed to. Complement Donalda’s outstanding lamp collection. The lamp stands 42 ft. high (12.8m) and 17 ft. wide (5.18m) at the base and is made of steel and fiberglass. The lamp overlooks the Meeting Creek Coulee and lights up at dusk each night. The Donalda and District Museum displays a renowned collection of lamps ranging from the 1600s to the 1950s. This extensive collection of lamps was established with the extremely generous donation of 500 lamps. From local residents Don and Beth Lawson in 1979. From the initial donation, the lamp collection has grown to over 900 lamps through individual donations and acquisitions. They are on display in the main museum building. Donalda is a quiet, attractive village with a population of around 260. Besides the Museum, Donalda boasts a drop-in centre (open to the public), a hotel, a tavern and restaurant, an ice cream parlour (summer only), a Canada Post Office, a public art gallery, antique/craft stores, and a public library with wireless Internet service. Historical Buildings of Donalda. 1955 Donalda Co-operative Creamery. The Donalda Co-operative Creamery is a historical resource that preserves the local creamery as it operated over the decades. The creamery first opened in Donalda in 1924 as Woodland Dairy and operated under various owners for 13 years.
