Trish's Travels

Monday, May 16, 2011. Scene 1 - The Kitchen. The concept was simple - make a Barbie cake for Nina’s 4th birthday. And she split my jolly cake. I patched it together with blueberry jam. I was managing fine and dealing with all the hurdles, but why wasn’t it easy? Why weren’t all the steps falling perfectly into place? Why was it all a struggle? No matter how many prayers I’d prayed just minutes before, when I saw that cake, my reaction was decidedly un-saintly. Enough said. Scene 2 - The Home School Room.

Trish's Travels: September 2008

http://www.trishtravel.blogspot.com/2008_09_01_archive.html

Friday, September 12, 2008. The kids changed schools. Actually, we decided to change the kids' school. Big decision. Huge decision. Much heartache. Reasons for the change? Well, some social concerns. some aggression, bullying, bad behaviour. I had a total rethink: neither of our goals were being met! Sometimes I feel bad that we are making life so difficult for Jonty. But actually, Jonty keeps rising above the challenges that come his way and he's becoming a stronger and a better person. Its hard...The o...

Trish's Travels: May 2008

http://www.trishtravel.blogspot.com/2008_05_01_archive.html

Saturday, May 31, 2008. Breath holding spells. sounds so innocent, so benign. Or so I used to think, until I had a child who had them. Nick decided he'd buy the fruit and I could sort out the kids. By the time I had got around to Nina's seat she was rigid. Then her body started jerking. I struggled to get her out of the car seat because she was so stiff. She was as white as a sheet. Once she was out, she lost consciousness. I was running through the fruit stalls shouting for Nick. Tuesday, May 27, 2008.

Trish's Travels: November 2008

http://www.trishtravel.blogspot.com/2008_11_01_archive.html

Friday, November 28, 2008. Wolf ,Wolf, what's the time? That was the game we played today at Kids' Club: "Wolf Wolf what's the time? My own kids have been playing it since they were about 2. the Kids Club Kids are 6 and older so I thought it would be easy. I had gone through my introduction and explanation of the game with my language helper yesterday. I knew what to say and how to say it. I was ready. Photo: Kids Club on a better day! When we first arrived in Thailand in 2003, I read in the Bangkok Post.

Ministry Beginnings: New Beginnings

http://ministrybeginnings.blogspot.com/2008/06/new-beginnings.html

A blow-by-blow account of how we got/are getting started in a new ministry in Lampang. We moved to Lampang on Friday 25 April 2008. We had returned from a 7-month home assignment on the 3rd of that month and had been living at a friend's place. In Mee Jo, just outside Chiang Mai. Eventually we ditched Anake's contact and went driving around by ourselves in search of a house to let. Nothing! I went home that night in a black mood. I was finally shown a house that was decent - it was in our price range and...
