De basis voor het ontstaan van. Is rond 1991 gelegd. In opdracht van de Franciscanen werkte Cees van 1990 tot en met 1993 in de sloppenwijken Dastgir en Azizabad en mocht daar verschillende community care projecten starten. Samen met Salma heeft hij toen gewerkt aan wat UmeedGah nu is. De aard van de beperking varieert en de vragen zijn zeer uiteenlopend. In UmeedGah zijn kinderen met een verstandelijke beperking, doven, slechtzienden, polio, autisme, enz.

In 2013 is de Stichting UmeedGah Nederland weer op vele manieren gesponsord door bedrijven en veel goede bekenden, vrienden en collega’s. Voor de beddenrace werd ruim 2500 euro opgehaald. Ook werden we dit jaar verrast door een zeer gulle gift van. Tandheelkundig centrum ‘t Veld. Die een dag lang hun opbrengst van alle behandelingen ten behoeve van vier goede doelen beschikbaar stelde. UmeedGah was er daar één van, dit werd een gift van ruim 1100 euro (zie de foto).

Het financieel ondersteunen van dagcentra voor gehandicapten in Pakistan. Het in stand houden en verder uitbouwen van het dagcentrum UmeedGah in Karachi en eventuele andere centra in Pakistan.
