madasaboxoffrogs: Day 99 - Sunday 19th September: Great South Oxfordshire Run

http://aboxoffrogs.blogspot.com/2010/09/day-99-sunday-19th-september-great.html

Sunday, 19 September 2010. Day 99 - Sunday 19th September: Great South Oxfordshire Run. Run: 13.21 miles. Time: 1 hour 56 minutes 45 seconds. Today's schedule called for an easy (or was it comfortable? As per usual, however, my legs have other ideas, and I whizz through the next mile in 8m40s. Surely this is too fast? What will the weather be like in the far North of Scotland in October? I guess I'll find out in a fortnight. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). Running 13.1 miles in memory of Carl. I star...

http://aboxoffrogs.blogspot.com/2010/09/day-101-tuesday-21st-september-orangey.html

Tuesday, 21 September 2010. Day 101 - Tuesday 21st September: Orangey day. Half an hour later, and she washed my hair again to reveal. a light orangey colour. Not quite the vibrant lifeboat shade I was hoping for, but still enough to make me stand out a bit to aid my fundraising along for the next week. Then next Wednesday I'm back there again to have the colour topped up, and next time she's going to get a darker, more crazy colour! Inside and out body therapy. Ouch, ouch ouch! I ran the Silverstone Hal...

madasaboxoffrogs: Day 94 - Tuesday 14th September: Stanford 3 laps

http://aboxoffrogs.blogspot.com/2010/09/day-94-tuesday-14th-september-stanford.html

Tuesday, 14 September 2010. Day 94 - Tuesday 14th September: Stanford 3 laps. Run: 3.47 miles. Time: 27 minutes 10 seconds. After yesterday's quite astonishing 80 lengths on the pool (I'm still a bit in awe of myself for having done that), it's back to the running today. A "brisk" 30 minutes is called for, so I opt for 3 "mile" laps of the village, but extended a bit to what might be 1.2 miles? Best wishes from us both M and D. 15 September 2010 at 11:00. madasaboxoffrogs: Day 100 - Monday 20th September: Recovery day

http://aboxoffrogs.blogspot.com/2010/09/day-100-monday-20th-september-recovery.html

Monday, 20 September 2010. Day 100 - Monday 20th September: Recovery day. Run: 3.54 miles. Time: 30 minutes 18 seconds. The plan today was a gentle 20 minute jog as a recovery run. But a 20 minute lunchtime jog sounds very boring. I know, I'll do a bit more than 20 minutes, and run to Steventon and back. Along the railway line, up the hill, down again and back to work. If I go direct, it'll only be abut 2½ miles, won't it? Maybe a bit more? Anyway, I get through the 1,000 metres in just over 30 minutes.

Phil runs London: November 2008

http://philrunslondon.blogspot.com/2008_11_01_archive.html

Because 10k's are for wusses. Cracked it, sort of. After more faffing around than a room full of mother-in-laws, I tonight got up to my base 5-miler. This is pretty good because I freely admit I've been lame at getting going on this. Now five miles aint much, comparatively speaking, but it's a significant landmark as last time round it took me a fair few runs to get up to that, running constantly, but it was like a revelation when I got there. You put them in the wash. So got in, got changed, got out.

Phil runs London: February 2008

http://philrunslondon.blogspot.com/2008_02_01_archive.html

Because 10k's are for wusses. Do not read this if you don't like blood. or feet. After the debacle of Sunday. It was with not a small amount of trepidation that I laced up the trainers tonight. I was down for a 6 miler, but wanted to up the mileage after losing a few with my leg so went for a 7 and a half. Was all going swimmingly until I got up by the rowing club (I live in Surrey dah-ling! It goes downhill again on the next bit, don't worry). At first my mind naturally turned to velociraptors (see!

Phil runs London: March 2008

http://philrunslondon.blogspot.com/2008_03_01_archive.html

Because 10k's are for wusses. A little over an hour ago I stumbled home from my 18 miler. This was originally scheduled for yesterday, but snow etc made me postpone. The last mile was a bit of a blur, as I was really feeling it by then. I even started screaming at myself to keep going. It was probably meant to sound like "come on", but came out more like "mnnneeer"! I apologise to the good people of Chertsey who had to see that. I assure you, I'm not a mentalist. At least not that kind. Last night went p...

Phil runs London: December 2009

http://philrunslondon.blogspot.com/2009_12_01_archive.html

Because 10k's are for wusses. I'm beginning to get the familiar, almost comforting, sense of loathing normally reserved for my own shortcomings or particularly inept colleagues. This time, it's the former that's the subject of my ire. Before London, I swore I'd make sure I didn't go through that again, so have spent most of the rest of the year trying to strengthen the knee with physio, exercises, and low impact things like cycling. I started proper training good and early thanks to Sally. Tomorrow is my...

Phil runs London: October 2009

http://philrunslondon.blogspot.com/2009_10_01_archive.html

Because 10k's are for wusses. Tonight was my first attempt at 'hill reps' as part of my London Marathon training. Yes, I went to the park apres the bulk of my work day, but pres (I'm sure that's right) an evening meeting. Yes, I had spent the day mentally preparing myself to jog for 10 mins to warm up and have my first go at 5 x 1 min uphill, jogging back down. Yes, I even ate healthily through the day so I was well petrolled . It was actually more like being smacked in the side by a cricket bat. I'm gon...

Phil runs London: July 2009

http://philrunslondon.blogspot.com/2009_07_01_archive.html

Because 10k's are for wusses. Last Tuesday marked a significant step on my way to next years London Marathon - the physio said I could start running again! It's been more than three months since my last run (a now incomprehensible 20-miler. If I remember rightly.) and I'm now allowed to get going again after weeks of physio. Wonderfully named 'knee classes', and seemingly endless stretching. A month ago, in an effort to stop the complete loss of any fitness I'd built up in training, I got a bike. So, I n...

Phil runs London: November 2009

http://philrunslondon.blogspot.com/2009_11_01_archive.html

Because 10k's are for wusses. I'm not gonna lie - running a marathon is not a pleasant experience. I've only made it round one, and it was horrible. But, the ever-soothing passage of time helps erase these painful memories and allows you to convince yourself that it wasn't actually that bad, so why not give it another go? That is why I tell people that whilst pretty much anyone can do a marathon with proper preparation, they. Time is measured on a 0-20 scale, with 0 being the time the incident happened&#...

Because 10k's are for wusses. Two-wheels better than one. knee. Today I've completed 22 miles powered only by my legs. Not quite a marathon, and, to, be honest, I didnt run, but hey, after two months of nothing 11 mile to, and 11 from work feels like something of achievement. Shame I got caught in hail on way back. Still sodden! Sent from my BlackBerry wireless device. Updated to correct my horrendous typing, which I would blame on pedi. Monday, June 15, 2009. The moral is, I'm an early riser. My ala...
