Adventures in home economics. Learning the hard way…. January 5, 2009. January 5th, 2009. Daily to do lists. Daily to do lists. At 10:04 am by allisonwonder. Yeah, yesterday wasn’t so productive, but you know what? That’s OK. I was tired, the boys were tired and cranky… at least we managed to get out to buy apple juice, and I didn’t give in to the temptation to get McDonald’s for lunch or supper. I made fettuccine with tomato sauce and shrimp last night- not bad. There’s lots to do again today:.

Adventures in home economics. Learning the hard way…. January 12, 2009. January… Ummm… Monday? At 10:48 am by allisonwonder. I’ve lost track of the date- one of the dangers of “not working”. Today’s laundry day. Judging by the full hampers in all of the bedrooms, we’re looking at at least 4 loads; once I add in whatever’s scattered around the house, it’ll probably be more. I’ll Be Baaaack…. January 12, 2009 at 7:23 am ( Uncategorized. My lack of inspiration and motivation has become ridiculous. It’s that unfortunate time of year when most of us get to feeling a little down, people with Seasonal Affective Disorder (and what an appropriate acronym THAT is! To say my posting around here has been irregular lately is a bit of an understatement- I find myself with little to write about and even less motivation to write about what there is. I’ve been better about AIHE. Fill in yo...

At An Ungodly Hour. December 5, 2008 at 7:17 am ( Uncategorized. I know there are people out there who get up early so they can get things done. Housework, writing, getting lunches ready… morning’s a productive time for those people. This might lead one to believe that I, too, should have lots of time for writing on here these days, what with my children getting me up ridiculously early, but it’s just not so. What’s the problem? I’ve done a few posts on Adventures In Home Ec. A few nights ago I had a dre...

Adventures in Homebrew
A place to talk about beer, homebrew, and whatever else comes to mind. Tuesday, June 29, 2010. I haven't posted in a super long time, and I'm sure my loyal readers are pining away for a new entry. wait, who am I kidding? Anyways, in keeping with part of the original purpose of this blog for tracking my progress as a brewer, here's some updates and notes on what's been going on in my beer world. Links to this post. Adventures in Homebrewing | The successes and failures of a New Mexico homebrewer.
The successes and failures of a New Mexico homebrewer. APA recipe and tasting (and hops! June 4, 2010. Thursday, June 3. Early on, we hit upon the idea of buying our hops in bulk. Commercial breweries might use pounds of hops per barrel. But most homebrew recipes call for only a few ounces. Hoppier beers use more; this APA of mine had 11 oz, added at various stages of the brew. As the NPR article mentions, the Big Brewers get first dibs on the world hop supply. Smaller operations, including homebrewe...

Adventures in Home Education
Monday, February 23, 2015. Christmas Trip 2014 (part 4): Athens. On December 23rd we had a wonderful walking tour of Athens. The sad part is they weren't concerned with preservation until recently. Cute little church in the middle of town. Ruins under the city. Some renovation and some graffiti (very common). Old Greek Market next to the graffiti covered rail road tracks. Narrow streets to keep the pirates out. Some pottery near the Theatre. The other entrance to Athens. Links to this post. Christmas Tri...

Adventures in Home Improvement plus Random Musings
Adventures in Home Improvement plus Random Musings. Tuesday, September 23, 2008. I love decorating a cake. But it turns out I love watching other people screw up decorating cakes even more. In case you haven't seen it this blog on poorly decorated cakes is hilarious. The best part is that they are all "professionally" made cakes. It doesn't matter how many times I see this cake - still funny. Http:/ cakewrecks.blogspot.com/search/label/Creative%20Grammar. Happy Birthday Aunt/Mom is also a winner. More im...

Adventures in Home Improvement
Adventures in Home Improvement. Our Front Door Lock Dilemma. Posted by Lesa Townsend. On June 2, 2011. We bought our house out of foreclosure and between our offer and closing, someone came into the house and took the medicine cabinet out of the bathroom (we believe it was the previous owners, but have no proof). There was no evidence of forced entry, so whomever it was, they either had a key or knew a real estate agent. And corded drill from the local home improvement store. The challenge didn’t a...
