A Life Unordinary

America: Home of the free land of the brave. Today I spent the better part of the afternoon at the American Embassy trying to get my passport expanded yet again. It's the second time in a year that I have stepped foot on American ground in London. As always it's a truly unique experience. It's the only place I have ever come across in London where strangers talk to each other. When we were there last year to register the twinkies. Who has time for that? And braver as keeping to yourself. Others. I have a...

A Life Unordinary: 30 Seconds

http://www.alifeunoridnary.blogspot.com/2010/11/30-seconds.html

Also known as approximately the amount of time I have to myself at the moment if you don't count time on the train, in the shower or sleeping. The good news is I have worked my notice period at previously mentioned former employer. Indicated hers were signed, sealed and all but delivered. So much for being ahead of anything any more. And with that, my 30 seconds is up, so I shall carry on my inane ramblings at a later date. Tootaloo. Posted by Girl Friday. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom).

A Life Unordinary: A beautiful nightmare

http://www.alifeunoridnary.blogspot.com/2011/01/beautiful-nightmare.html

Last night I had a dream about an old friend and woke up with a start. For an important period of my life, we were very close and then one day we weren't. I miss her often and think of her even more. I think for the West in particular, we live in a disposable culture. I do think though that by in large we expect our friendships to last. Once we have made it through the hormonal teenage years followed by the angsty. There were four of us during that time in my life and we were thick as theives. Ex boyfrie...

A Life Unordinary: January 2011

http://www.alifeunoridnary.blogspot.com/2011_01_01_archive.html

I have a happy history or encounters with the Norwegians. My first encounter was at the Women's World Cup matches in Portugal circa 2001. Aside from the match in which they played the USA team, I tended to side with the Norway fans at every field battle I attended. They were a fun, raucous. Group and they took me into their fold. They taught me swear words in Norwegian. As I fastened my seat belt. Raised my tray table and returned my seat back. To its upright position I started thinking back (as I often ...

The (mis) adventures of a London PR getting back into the swing of things after a lesson in how to be a 50's mum in the naughties. Now to master the art of being a Mad Woman who is behind the door instead of in front of it. It happened, I swear, read it here. Men and Women, Girls and Boys. Keep Calm, Carry On. A Life Unordinary: October 2010

http://www.alifeunoridnary.blogspot.com/2010_10_01_archive.html

Men and Women, Girls and Boys. Posted by Girl Friday. Keep Calm, Carry On. A year ago I went through what I thought would be the hardest thing ever. Then I brought home my two little (and I mean ickle) monkeys and really found out what hard work was. But here we are, all four of us still alive and smiling. Its been the hardest and best year of my life (so far) but man am I glad it's over! Posted by Girl Friday. New Shoes are like the best thing ever. Sometimes it's the small things. Happy Friday. 10 At t...

Giant Butters: November 2010

http://giantbutters.blogspot.com/2010_11_01_archive.html

Monday, November 15, 2010. As a class we received our tickets for next month's Graduation Ceremony. Only 4 tickets per student. Some people are pissed, but whatever. I don't have any family coming (since it is such a short and small ceremony, and because I'll be back in Chicago two days later, I told my family to stay home), and no friends coming (who would I invite - the two guys I'm dating? I gave my tickets away. Dry Erase Marker Teaching Assistant Guy. Last year I completely stalked this TA who used ...

Giant Butters: March 2010

http://giantbutters.blogspot.com/2010_03_01_archive.html

Tuesday, March 9, 2010. I have a recurring dream in which I'm always late getting somewhere important. The setting and scene is always different, but each time, I'm in a situation in which I'm trying to get somewhere, and for various reasons I just can't get there. Posted by Giant Butters. Giant Butters: August 2010

http://giantbutters.blogspot.com/2010_08_01_archive.html

Saturday, August 28, 2010. Saturday night Emily took me to the Nats game. First time at the new park in the year I've been back. We scored sweet seats and had a good time, catching up on each other's lives over the last month, drinking summer shandys. The Nats won. It was my first Saturday night back in town, and it was the perfect way to ease into the new (and last, praise baby Jesus) school year. Of which I am petrified. But anyways. Posted by Giant Butters. Friday, August 27, 2010. I miss my family.

Giant Butters: January 2011

http://giantbutters.blogspot.com/2011_01_01_archive.html

Friday, January 21, 2011. Let It Be NCLEX Exam, Just Let It Be. For the last few weeks I've been studying for the NCLEX back here in Chicago. About 8 hours a day, 6 days a week since Jan. 3rd. The exam is tomorrow morning at 8 am. I took the day off today to give my head a well-needed break from practice questions. Went to a movie this afternoon to enjoy some mindless diversion. I'm not sure it worked. To by nursing career thus far. I'm taking these as good signs for tomorrow. Posted by Giant Butters.

Giant Butters: ... And So It Begins...

http://giantbutters.blogspot.com/2009/08/and-so-it-begins.html

Tuesday, September 1, 2009. And So It Begins. Since I arrived in town, and for many days before, the weather had been typical DC August - hot and muggy. But like in a movie, today came around and it was cloudy and cool. It was like summer was suddenly over and with the flip of a switch it is now Fall. . Now my feet won't touch the ground.". And I cracked a smile through DuPont Circle feeling good about the weather and the first day of orientation ahead of me. Posted by Giant Butters. Ah GB, you just need...

Giant Butters: I Accidentally Got Drunk...

http://giantbutters.blogspot.com/2010/10/i-accidentally-got-drunk.html

Friday, October 22, 2010. I Accidentally Got Drunk. Is it bad to show up to a second date drunk? Besides, I am kinda nervous about this date, which starts in about 15 minutes. I'm not sure I'm very compatible with this guy. He's really cute and very sweet. But personality-wise we may not be in sync. So a little alcohol-fueled bravado might be a good thing. For me, anyway. Maybe not so much for him. PS - In case you were wondering, I was drunk when I wrote this post. Yay for me. Posted by Giant Butters.

Giant Butters: December 2009

http://giantbutters.blogspot.com/2009_12_01_archive.html

Thursday, December 31, 2009. Because I'm prone to sentimentality and nostalgia, New Years Eve is always a big deal to me. I think it's important to reflect. I think for me at least, I like to look back and know that my life is evolving. That I'm at least a little bit different, and hopefully better, than I was a year ago. Am I closer today to the person I want to be than I was a year ago? Cheers and Happy New Year, all. And to a great 2010! Posted by Giant Butters. Wednesday, December 30, 2009. A friend ...

Tuesday, October 26, 2010. Open Letter To My Boyfriend, Ben Zo. Since we met about a month ago (can you believe it's been that long? You've completely changed my life. For the better, mostly. You've taken away most of the anxiety of this last - and hardest - semester of school. It's true - because of you, I simply just don't get worked up over the little things. You've helped me see the silver lining in the clouds that make up my sad little student life. Who has time for dates? They say. ". And on the on...

Giant Butters: Getting a Lemon Lobbed at Your Junk Is Not a Good Way to Start the New Year

http://giantbutters.blogspot.com/2011/01/getting-lemon-lobbed-at-your-junk-is.html

Saturday, January 1, 2011. Getting a Lemon Lobbed at Your Junk Is Not a Good Way to Start the New Year. This morning, I was laying in the hotel room bed while Anthony was attempting to juggle with three lemons. (He wasn't doing it well.) At one point he threw one to me while I wasn't paying attention and it smacked me right in my balls. Goddamn, I have not been hit in the balls in probably 20 years and had forgotten how much it hurts. Like, indescribable, mind and soul-numbing pain. The nut-shot throw up!

The ramblings of an inconsequential unknown. To lectin or not to lectin. Jan 15, 2015. After only 3 days of eliminating most lectins from my diet, I feel better than I have for at least 6 months. Welcome to A Life Unlimited. To get back on the highway again, try doing some idle fantasizing. For now, put your mental car in fifth gear and let your mind sail along with some thoughts of what could be instead of what-is. Say to yourself, According to everybody else, I should be wanting to be, have and do X; but what if I could be, have, or do Y instead? What could I do if nothing were impossible? Change is a slow process that happens in stages. It usually starts with a feeling of unhappiness with ...
