http://gallowayphotocollective.blogspot.com/2015/08/allan-wright-skye-at-last-5.html
Monday, 3 August 2015. Allan Wright - Skye at Last 5. Onwards from Elgol pursuing the heart of Skye on this fine day I decided to tackle a decent hill and get a measure of the famous Black Cuillin Range. A little research and a good look at the OS map revealed a route I felt I could manage. A lesser hill called Sgurr na Stri (my gaelic is woeful so no idea what it means! Wednesday, 28 March 2012. A Weekend of Photography and Art. This weekend is going to be rather busy. Last year I teamed up with several other local, professional photographers to form the Galloway Photographic Collective. The idea is we are pooling knowledge, experience and resources to promote our businesses, photography, and this corner of Scotland. It’s taken a few months and lots of debates and decision making, but we are officially launching this weekend. It’s all looking to be quite an event. So if...

Monday, 31 August 2015. Holly Burns - The Fine Art of Compositing. So what does it take to create a fine art composited image? It is not the case that you can simply merge any photographs you like to create a cohesive composite. All images used must be carefully considered and prepared for use. What are the considerations that essentially make or break a composited image? Lets break it right down to what has to be 100% right before even clicking the camera shutter. 3 Depth of field. 4 Colours and Tones.

Monday, 17 August 2015. Kim Ayres - Macmath: The Silent Page. Macmath: The Silent Page. Was a project created to bring to life a series of old folk songs, held in the archives at Broughton House in Kirkcudbright, many of which had not been heard for over a hundred years. I had been called in to create a photo that could be used for publicity and the CD cover, once the songs have been recorded. Wee pin-man sketches done beforehand will only get you so far. It's not until you put everyone together can ...

Monday, 25 May 2015. Tom Langlands - Staying on the Rails. I enjoy 'projects' and 'challenges' and so when I heard that a couple of water rail had been heard at the WWT Caerlaverock nature reserve earlier this year I decided to see if I could spot this elusive bird and photograph it. Like most wildlife photography it came down to observation, perseverance and planning - or, in other words, about 95% perspiration and 5% inspiration. Links to this post. Story behind the photograph. Monday, 29 September 2014. Giles Atkinson - Have you thought about Group Shots? At some point when discussing a couples wedding day, we always come round to the inevitable ‘group shots’ discussion. I have always been a little torn about these, the creative side of me finds them boring and to be honest, more often than not so does the Bride and Groom! All they really want to be doing is to be getting on with the important job of celebrating! So earlier on this year, whilst talking to Amy and Duncan about ...
