The Allotment Journey

Monday, 1 July 2013. We have a greenhouse. Finally got a greenhouse. Purchased from Ebay for £41. Had a nightmare dismantling it as the guy i brought it off gave me duff info on the tools i needed to take it down then he cleared off and left Arleya and me to it. On top of that it heaved it down with rain and we got soaked. I ended up having to bend and fold aluminium frame to ram it into my car. Also managing to pierce the vinyl on my car door and dashboard. grrrrr. Follow me on Twitter @clearseaz. Great...

The Allotment Journey: January 2013

http://www.allotmentjourney.blogspot.com/2013_01_01_archive.html

Sunday, 6 January 2013. Happy New Year 2013. Doesn't feel like i have done an allotment update for a while. Probably due to the fact i haven't done anything down there for a while. Until August i should be able to get down the plot for a few hours every Saturday, after that a bit more. Will also be able to get down for an hour a couple of evenings a week once the days get a bit longer. Looks a bit different to what it did when we took it on. First day at the plot was grim. Planting plan for this year.

The Allotment Journey: August 2012

http://www.allotmentjourney.blogspot.com/2012_08_01_archive.html

Wednesday, 15 August 2012. Quite a transformation when i look at the first pics to the ones i took today. Had a bit of a break from it as we have been on holiday and also to some Olympic events. Sourced some more pallets off Freecycle and built a workbench. Used some of it to knock together the first raised bed as well. Finished the first bed and planted some cauliflower seeds. Should i cover the bed in net, polythene or fleece? So, here are the latest pics. New bench and roof. Time to get fit blog.

The Allotment Journey: May 2013

http://www.allotmentjourney.blogspot.com/2013_05_01_archive.html

Sunday, 26 May 2013. First Harvest. 16th May 2013. Have pulled out all the Radishes now so ready to put another batch in. Ants had a good feast on a lot of the last ones. Will have to have a read up and how to reduce that. Got back from my triathlon (The Slateman) in Wales to find a letter from Norfolk County Council saying that i haven't been cultivating my plot enough. Especially the left hand side. As i was off last Tuesday following the weekends triathlon i was able to get down the plot. Have had...

The Allotment Journey: June 2013

http://www.allotmentjourney.blogspot.com/2013_06_01_archive.html

Saturday, 1 June 2013. Great weather this May bank holiday weekend has enabled us to have lots more time down the lotty. Good job really as I'm likely to face eviction if i don't get more digging done. Pity my dog cant dig down the lotty as much as it does in the garden. Went down Homebase and bought a few Herbs and some compost. First 4 herbs, forget their names. Red Onion and Corn. Also went over the whole plot with the strimmer. Arleya cleared loads of weeds from a variety of beds. Time to get fit blog.

The Allotment Journey: February 2013

http://www.allotmentjourney.blogspot.com/2013_02_01_archive.html

Friday, 22 February 2013. Not updated the blog in a while, but things have been a bit slow down the lotty over winter. Anyway, back with a vengeance now. Got down the allotment for the first time in a while. Dug over the existing beds again and continued to extract roots and weeds. Soil was really sticky and clay like, not surprising though considering the amount of rain we have had. Got down the allotment again for a couple of hours. Bit better progress today as the ground was a lot dryer. I'm not actua...

The Cycling Norfolk Church Spotter. Saturday, 9 February 2013. Norfolk Church Count - 73. Four more churches (one is a ruin) seen today on what was quite a fast (for me) 27 mile bike ride. First ride i've actually managed to do in complete sunshine this year as well. Here's the route - http:/ www.mapmyride.com/workout/230783042. Although i went through Rackheath (twice) i failed to get a picture of the church. Will have to find out exactly where that one is. All Saints. Panxworth. St Helen. Ranworth.

The Cycling Norfolk Church Spotter. Thursday, 27 December 2012. Norfolk Church Count 16. Went out for a 20 mile cycle today. Certainly enjoyable peddling round the Norfolk countryside (even in the rain), taking in the scenery, trying to spot a tower or spire of a church then heading towards it. Rather than training rides where your concentrating on what zone your heart rate is in or how high i'm managing to keep my average pace, you tend to miss half of whats around you on those rides. Norfolk Church Cou...
