Thursday, July 28, 2011. A while ago, Amanda and I adopted what turned out to be a neurotic rescue dog from the German Shorthaired Pointer Rescue in Penrose, CO. For the first time since getting Emmy the dog, Amanda and i are going to leave her as we embark on a five day four night vacation tour of Colorado. Our friend Fernando has quixotically agreed to housesit. This may go horribly. Fernando says never again: 33%. Emmy pees inside: 60%. Olivia bites Fernando: 70%. Fernando teaches Emmy to stay: 15%.

Saturday, July 19, 2008. The Year in Numbers. I have 8 days left in Japan, 4 days left in Kyoto, 1 day left of work and 0 days left of school. As I prepare to leave there are a few good-bye parties and ceremonies at which I'm supposed to feel sad about leaving and say that I had a wonderful time and that I will miss it so much. I don't think I'm doing a very good job because my automatic response to the idea of leaving is a big smile with excitement and relief behind it. I taught at 4 community events.

I saw this sign as I was waiting for the bus- apparently, it's the name of the street on which the train station sits. It made me really happy! Gardens at the Alcazár. I saw both in the morning/ early afternoon, took a break for some ice cream (it was at least 80 degrees! Sevilla has some of the tallest palm trees I've ever seen.
